I'm ok. A few miles south of the evac area. The wind is blowing to NNW. Monument, CO is at risk. Roughly from Interquest Pkwy north to Monument bounded by I-25 is in Evac area.

The wind kicks up in the afternoon and fuels the fires. Many, many people are impacted and many have lost everything.

This was the smoke plume yesterday evening looking at the front of my house. The HUMMER is "safe" in the garage!

Here in Florissant, Teller Cty, There was a fire on someone's ranch about 12 miles away. It was contained 100% after awhile. Very scary again... Today, we loaded the popup on the truck, just in case and I think it will stay there for the season. It sucks but, it makes sense for us. You gotta have to try to be as ready as you can. Also, we have insur. of course but, THEY will deny all claims for any reason all day long, They are not as nice as they're adverting says.

My wife works for a company that deals with temporary housing for situations like this. She came home today and said they are going to be extremely busy for the next several weeks and that her and another girl she works with have to go down to Canyon City on Sunday to assist State Farm in with their claims.

Wow--hope all of you guys are good. I know Tim lives north of the Springs in the Denver area, hoping he should be fine.

This gives me pause to think about being prepared for evacuation in times of crisis like this. We're so used to dealing with hurricane evacuations, but I never made an action plan for rapid removal and safe transport of the HUMMER sign in the garage. I can always take new pictures of the kids (sure, they might have grown up some over the past 17 years), but I can't replace that sign--and what insurance company is going to pay the $2.9 million it's worth?

Seriously, thoughts and prayers out to you guys-----

That comment made me laugh! Yea you better get a good waterproofing for the sign too just in case the flooding gets to bad from a hurricane!!

Hope the fire stays away from you guys and only makes the liberals move out of Colorado!

The update at the mid-day conference was 360 homes destroyed. The wind kicked up this afternoon, more evacuations.
The area was popular because of the heavy wooded areas large areas of land for horses, llamas, alpacas, etc...

Now many of the trees are gone and if the home survived, the trees are gone. That will change the environment of Black Forest and impact values for many years. What was a cool breeze through the trees, is now going to be hot, sun and sun drenched.

Two fatalities found in their garage as they were packing up to leave. If this was arson, now 2x murder charges will be levied against the perpetrator(s).

Be safe y'all! One of the wildfires we had here two years ago was literally across the street from our neighborhood. Three houses at the front of the street were destroyed. We were evacuated twice. It was awful! We do have insurance but still hubby had to console me quite a bit because the first time we evacuated I took the pictures & my wedding dress & the second time I forgot them...I was devastated. And even though it's just stuff, we worked so hard for the "stuff" we have. Thankfully our fantastic firefighters were able to get it under control. Numerous homes were destroyed in several neighborhoods but ours was spared. Would have been nice to have had the Hummer at that time though because it was a sight to see my Isuzu Amigo loaded with stuff, my step-daughter, a Lab, & a Golden Retriever. I was so impressed at how the businesses & communities helped all of us out! And thankfully Motel 6 allows pets.099.JPG104.JPG This was our fire in the beginning & our house was on the other side of the street. And of course I have to show the dogs roughing it at Motel 6. Seriously though, I pray you will all be ok & won't lose anything!
