I had my radiator replaced about 5000 miles ago and the coolant is this low

does this indicate another problem? Is this normal? Is the radiator bad again?

It could the air bubbles... But refill it again if it loses coolant again you'll know something is not right. Maybe bad radiator cap or leaking hose

That's about where mine likes to be, maybe 1/4" lower. Mine never stays at the cold line.

As mentioned, top it off. If there's an issue it will become apparent but this, for me, is normal

Same thing happened to mine when the dealer replace the radiator...which leaved me to believe that they either didn't too off the radiator or didn't change the fluid...I too it of and haven't have an issue tho so who knows.

Colorado is hell on Hummers.

Seriously though, if you replaced your radiator and it gets low again.... do you smell antifreeze in the cabin? Did you overheat it before you got the new radiator? Have you done any severe-duty wheeling or pulling?

None of the above, check engine light came on, it wasn't overheating, but 3 shops said it was a radiator problem.

Mechanic found a 7-9" crack in my radiator. I never saw a leak nor smelled an odor. He mentioned that the pressure during use vs pressure when off could have been enough for the radiator to leak while operating but not when off. He also mentioned that due to the materials of the radiator (plastic on top and bottom and aluminum in middle) that the high temperatures and changes in temperatures wears down the structure of the radiator over time. I'm not a mechanic, nor am I even slightly knowledgeable on this topic; just sharing my experience.

It takes awhile for the lines to seal back up, however, I'd expect they'd be done at 5000 miles. What I'm thinking is your heater core has gone as well... same materials as your radiator
