Diff Bushing

You'll have to remove the cross member to replace the bushing anyway. You might as well go for it and get the scorpworks crossmember bushing. I've been running one ever since he developed it with no issues and no signs of wear.
The only way to go, in my humble opinion.

Is the scorpworks the entire cross member and we ship them our old one back? A couple of hundred bucks?

I'm looking for a less costly solution. I don't do any hard off roading and the one I have on there lasted for 170,000 miles.

If I have too much trouble getting the old one out or the cross member is busted, I'll go with scorpworks.

There's either the outfitter design bushing set, which lets you replace the diff bushing and the outer support bushings, but it's also $200. Another option I found but haven't confirmed he still really has them in stock is suspension.com, $25+shipping for a set of bushings to replace just the diff bushing with. It really only works if you have the original style crossmember, I don't think it'll work with the new style (look at the thread for PCF's offering to see the differences, but I think basically if you have the tab for the factory UCP you have the original style).

Scroll to nearly the bottom of the page for the H3 diff bushing.

I really think the crossmember bushing could be replaced with something of your own design. You'll probably have to blow the old one out with a torch and start from scratch. The important thing is that the bushing needs to absorb axle twist in both directions (up and down). That bushing cycles from tension to compression every time you get on/off the throttle....so there's more going on than just clamping it to the frame. Expect some increase in road noise with stiffer bushings.

I too have to replace those bushings. I went to that sight suspension.com
After putting in my vehicle info and differential bushing in the search box, how does one know which set is the one needed with all the choices? Or am I missing something that I over looked?

On that page I linked to there is a entry specifically for the H3 diff bushing. If you open the page and hit control+f your browser will pop up a search feature to search text on the page itself, type in H3 and hit enter. If you try to go to their main page you will not find anything for the H3, you have to go to that particular page I linked to.

FYI, it was that kit that started the need for the Scorpworks product. I bought that kit and, as the suspension.com page mentions, "The bushings and sleeve we supply are not the correct length. You will have to modify the bushings and the sleeve." If you're looking for an easy fix, that's not it. If you're up for modifying their kit to make it work, go for it. Heck the thread they point to on another forum shows how Dwaine modified that product to make it work. It was not quick.

If I recall correctly, the bushing was not the correct outside diameter either so it had to be milled down.

Re-reading that page, I see now what you mean about modifying the sleeve, I didn't notice that part before. Does Scorpworks sell just the bushing? I'm not scared of having to replace it myself, but dealing with modifying the sleeve is a little outside what I would prefer to do, thought it's not out of the question. I read through the whole thread for the cross member and a few people asked about just getting the bushing but they never got an answer.

I'm pretty sure that Scorpworks is only doing complete units. I'm not sure about Dwaine's stance, but I can tell you from experience that selling "build your own" type kits leads to bashing by customers when products did not meet their expectations, which only came about from not following instructions and/or lack of technical ability. (With full transparency - I only "bashed" the suspension.com product as one that needed work to be done that I could not do. They have the disclaimer (now) readily available).

Dwaine has always been a complete-solution type guy. He does not mark half completed solutions. Not always the cheapest solution but it's one with terrific customer satisfaction.

Have you ever seen the fire truck he refitted? It's used for funerals for fallen firefighters. I like to share these because I think they show the approach that Dwaine takes to his tasks - 100%, beginning to end.
