Ok I know this is a strange question but I cannot find any books on these bad boys i.e. Chilton’s, I can't find any info on where the fuel filter is. I have looked under the duce and found what I believe is the fuel pump mounted to the frame and a possible location to an area of the filter but it only has one line going to it and with these cold day and items of plastics I am Leary of popping anything open unnecessary. Has anyone replaced there fuel filter and know where they hid it?? 04 early model. I just did a tune up replaceing the plusgs and wires and wanted to do the filter too.

HUMMERDAD, The external fuel filter was only found on the '03 models (same with the A/C air filter). If your early '04 has one you'll find it here:

So, that would mean mine, 2005, is inside the tank then? Now there's an awesome idea! I wonder why they didn't put the air filter inside the intake manifold!

Thankyou all for your posts now I just have to confirm it's there. I do have the external fuel pump so now it's just a matter of finding the filter up there hopefully it's not in the tank. with everthing covered in plastic now days one gets neveriuos on a cold day taking things apart.. I stand corrected evap container is on the rail not fuel pump.
