H2 Roof Rails on an H3

I've kicked this idea around for quite awhile now. I'm not a fan of the H3 rails, The H2 have a lot more.. attitude I guess. Obviously out of the box they are not going to fit but that's what power tools are for. From what I can tell I would need to take a few inches of either end, redrill the mounting holes for the stanchions and then figure out how to do the internal notch outs on each end for the locking mechanism.

I keep waiting for a set to pop up on craigslist but no joy for the last year so I may just need to order a set. Makes hauling around the kayaks easier than messing with the trailer. I wouldn't mind a Gobi, I just don't think on a T that extra 1.5' of additional space is worth the extra 1200 clams to me, plus I already have the bed rack project in the spring for it for more space.

What do you think, chop up some perfectly good H2 roof rails?

It'd be interesting. I had the same thought in passing, I liked the way the H2 rails lock down compared to the H3 rails where I am afraid I'm going to snap off that arm one of these days. Granted I just bought a roof rack though and probably won't be using my stock rails after I fab up some brackets for the basket.
