H4O Event - Last Chance Canyon - October 20th, 2012

[3Hummers]

Hate to see us put the space program on the back burner like we have. Guess Obama's take is that we can always hitch a ride with the Russians.

[cbetts]

The retirement of the shuttle program has been on the books for quite a while. It is probably good timing now though. It could allow private business to step in. Space-X may have a great future.

[Medic_Morgan]

Ok sooo the appointment w/ the OB today went No wheeling for the wifey and baby for this run buuuuut I'll for sure be there on the 20th . Getting pretty stoked

[3Hummers]

I doubt Space X will create the massive technological spin-offs that NASA's program did but I am a fan. They have a huge facility in McGregor, TX and it really cool when they test engines for the rockets.

[cbetts]

I toured the Hawthorne plant when I was there for an interview. Trust me, they way ahead of NASA.

I think he means you won't see the same kind of leap from NASA to SpaceX that you saw when NASA started and all of the tangent technologies that came out of NASA.

[3Hummers]

That is it exactly.

[cbetts]

I suppose. A lot of that credit belongs to the contractors though.

[3Hummers]

Regardless, Space X is in my backyard in Texas ( well ok they are 15 miles away ) and they have been a great employer/civic partner for the area.

You have a big back yard......

In Texas that is a normal size yard.
