Hi the names Ricky from England have a few rides but a Hummer is on the horizon H3T three in England? Will never see another, great to have really different truck to euro style but quite sad to never see another one, I'd like to ask fellow members I read about the 3.7 being a bit under powered but generally I would think 240 hp would be enough for just generally running around and the odd trailer to tow with small digger on, should be fine ? I'm buying a H3T I've never driven one can any member shed some light on day to day owner ship Thanks for any info. All the best Ricky

welcome... we're a bit pampered here in the States, 240 hp in a 6000 lb rig isn't terribly quick; however, in UK, where you have 110 hp Land Rover D2 diesels mucking about - the Hummer will do just fine

just be careful with that, I hear Top Gear likes blowing them up (when they're not busying irritating the minorities).

I love my T, but have only ever driven my supercharged Alpha (~440hp) so I can't comment on the I5

I wanted a H3 from the day they first came out, but after a test drive of an 06, I went away disenchanted because I thought it was a dog (a 5 speed 06). I bought an 07, and I thought that was a great motor, just that little bump in hp made all the difference. I still don't think that my 08 Alpha is faster than an 07 up 5 cylinder in the 0-30 mph range (4wd territory); but it is nice having 300 hp when you're merging on the highway or pulling a long grade at 70 mph. Honestly, I think GM screwed up with the motor they used (I know why, 400 hp = breakage under warranty) but I will do a motor swap eventually to a 6.2 displacement on demand or a duramax

Welcome to the forum.

I drive an H3T Alpha and I love the performance. Here in Southern California we go long distance to the trails or dig sites, so we need to be able to cover a lot of miles in not too much time. The speed limit on the Freeway is 70 mph once we get outside the city and we usually set the cruise at 79 mph or 127 km/hr. The 3.7's have a hard time keeping up at that speed. Also,if you increase the wheel diameter that reduces your acceleration.

I've raced the same 09 I5 both on road and offroad. On road, the Alpha is faster but its not a huge difference, and only above 30 mph it becomes a big one. Offroad and aired down, both are equal. The 4.56 gearing helps the I5 really well!
