Really really really really really bad news, somehow I punctured the front diff and blew the tcase and they want 5k and it is not covered under warranty... So no bueno

I'd ask them to provide more detail and to justify why warranty won't cover everything. I can understand a punctured diff not being covered but why not cover the t-case? How can they be certain that the damaged front diff was the cause of a t-case issue?

They said it was abuse and I'm sitting at my local dealer and they said they'd help me out as long as I can get it to them

Like when moving just on the gravel road then no, but while I was on that specific trail and going up, yes. I'm thinking a rock jutted out just enough to do crazy amount of damage

Ok so it's internal to external for both diff and tcase! I'm gonna fight for the warranty. So apparently the guy thinks I was revving it through mud I was crawling......

Yes, it will work that way.

So, question to anyone. Would one of those purple cranium differential covers have helped here at all?

I drove home with a few teeth missing off the pinion gear. Not the best idea but I wanted to save my 200 mile AAA tow for something where I am completely inoperable. Speaking of which I would get AAA it would have paid off in this situation.

and remember, dont be afraid to wrench yourself if both dealerships reject the warranty. I understand the t case may be a bit of a pain and you may want them to do that but the diff is easy. Remove the halfshafts, then 3 bolts and the diff is out. Dont bother rebuilding it.

See my signature...live by that quote when it comes to the H3 front axle. If you repair the case it could have been warped or stretched especially if its aluminum so I would just start over with a junker for ~600 or get the CI diff w/ locker for about 1300.

No, because things from the inside shot from out of the diff, and your front diff is protected by the skids

I have AAA but not the premium, I will be upgrading....

I've heard all Alphas and 08 plus have the CI. That is a misconception. Only the ones with a locker have the CI diff. Learned that the hard way ordering a non locker case. It was aluminum.

Not true. I replaced the aluminum with CI. P/N 15920599.

Chris. I would get a trailer and take it to your dealer. You have nothing to lose and possibly a lot to gain .I don't see how the grease running out of the front dif(because of the puncture) could cause the transfer case to blow, unless the dif locked up and I never saw that or heard any noise when it was moving. I think that's the plan, I plan on discussing options with my dad when he gets home. And when I get it to the home dealer they will give me an in-depth report on what could have happened and causing both the diff and tcase to fail. And just confirming there was no noise when you guys were towing me to the front.

I was next to last in line but didn't hear anything. You also weren't bouncing, hopping or gunning it. I find it hard to believe anything broke in those circumstances.

Good news finally, the dealer in MF will "probably" warranty it and I'll get it back in two weeks... My home dealer says theyll warranty it but I'll get it back quicker just gotta go get the truck

My dad and I decided the latter option, we are going to pick it up Saturday and bring it home for a quicker and more professional repair.
