Idea... thoughts or input?

I'm looking to pickup another H2 after sadly getting rid of my other one in a momentary state of stupidity. ..

Prices for a low mileage are high at the moment... to the point where it's almost equal to get a H1 rig...

I was toying with the idea of getting a high mileage ..i found a 2003 blacked out with 134000.. 1 owner.. all service records back to initial purchase were done at hummer/Cadillac dealer.. price $14.5.

I was thinking about picking it and getting a conversion to duramax.. there is a guy here in Florida with a good online rep doing conversions for around $15k.

almost a brand new truck for 30k invested... good idea or bad idea?

BTW is the mpg truly 18+ on a duramax (as per the predatorinc website) ??

Thanks

Brian

I'm sure it would be comparable to a silverados mpg, but good luck on your build, it would be great. Although I would look for something with closer to 200,000 miles since you're swapping the engine anyways.

You could save some cash for lift and tires.

I agree, go for it brother! Make sure you post pics of all the progress on the rig! And a big yes on black, as you can see mine is that color too lol. I would love to see a full conversion to a Durmax on an H2, hopefully I can do it one day too!

I agree with derian06, I would look for a high mileage H2 if you are going to do a max conversion. I know in Ak I can find 03-05 H2 with high miles for around $10k. I see on Craigslist in Miami h2 goes from $10-14k.

I couldn't get tapatalk to log in to the forum for the longest time.. sorry on delayed update...

I went 0/6 on high mileage hummers.. all sold or POS in my planned price range ($12-15k)...

However crawling under them and driving them all week really really got the itch going worse..

I ended up buying one at twice the cost with half the mileage (funny conversation with dealer... what do you mean you looking for double the miles? Everyone asks for low mileage cars....)

I picked up an 2007 H2 Lux with with 77k miles... all dealer service records... Florida only registered (no rust)... I actually like this one a lot more than the 07 lux I had last year for some reason...

I started some basic must haves... just ordered a transmission cooler from Oregon performance.. and those pesky luggage rack keys from thule...

I forgot how comfortable the rig is to drive ;)

Unfortunately I now have to wait while for the duramax conversion... but extremely happy with the new rig!!
