Jeep?

I'm thinking about getting a jeep... I love my hummer but it's limited.

Here's what I dislike about owning a hummer:

Limited mod options
IFS
leaf springs
All available mods are kinda expensive
I5 engine
And again limited mod options

I feel like if I get a jeep I'll solve all of the problems listed above

What do you guys think?

They have a bigger community here in the south... They have so many events and rides and I can't attend them because I don't have a jeep

I feel like if I get a jeep I'll solve all of the problems listed above

I owned a 06 tj.
Rust....rust ruzt...lol.
Constant maintenance.
Terrible gas mileage.
Uncomfortable.
Cold in winter.

my brother has a jeep and I have seen all the money he has sunk into it. Get a 3.8 you get reliability but have no power. His 3.8 being geared to 5.13s barely beats my 3.5 that has double the miles and has more weight added then he does.

Limited mod options is no problem with the jeep. You think of a mod probably 5 companies already sells it so you have options but it gets pricey quick.

Its your money and life. Do what makes you happy. If I remember, you said you were young. You will have lots of cars an trucks in your lifetime. I'm stickin w/ my H3. I'm older and bein comfortable is just as important. Its just a choice, that all...

I got my hummer and I wheel whereever I want and with whoever I want. If a group told me I couldn't wheel with them because of my vehicle, I wouldn't want to anyways.

Nothing wrong with Jeeps, I may get one down the road, but I'm more likely to get a project HMMWV or a trashed H1 restoration project instead.

Limited mod options is no problem with the jeep. You think of a mod probably 5 companies already sells it so you have options but it gets pricey quick.

That's a good thing because I hate how limited mods for the h3 are... For example rancho monopolizes the h3 lift kit and it's hella expensive for a 4in lift. With a lot of options for jeeps the mods are cheaper you can find a front bumper for 3 or 4 hundred bucks compared to a 900 buck front bumper for the h3. Idk I'm still confused man

Mod options are limited if you want to buy something off the shelf and just like the other guy's. Imagine how good you will feel after designing and/or welding up that bumper or cutting off your front end and going with a solid axle!

Your 17 ,you are so lucky to have what you have. When I was your age,I was happy to have anything that ran. I will tell you what I tell my kids. Stop and enjoy what you have and stop thinking about what you think you need. With all do respect,I think you need a reality check!

It would feel good but not so good on your pockets haha... I'm only 17 and can't afford to fab my own stuff. I'm trying to get the most out of my money on mods. If I spent 1k to fab a front bumper for the 3 I can buy a front rear and probably something else with the jeep. And ps I pay for all the mods with my own money

You should see some of the other kids in my area... I'm grateful for what I have and I work very hard to get it. This kid hasn't worked a day in his life and look at his jeep

Its your choice but i definitely wouldn't trade my hummer for a jeep. I just think the hummer looks so bad ass and rare around where i live compared to the amount of jeeps you see around here. I also think it rides so much more smoother than a jeep. (Thats just my opinion tho) hummer are just as capable as a jeep if not more. Again it's all your choice tho

If that's the jeep you want,go out and buy it. Make sure you buy it with the money you have earned Via a pay check with your name on it. Stop trying to keep up with the Jones,and enjoy what you have. While your at it,go hug your parents and thank them for everything you have.

I agree with Kurt. If someone or group wouldn't wheel with me because of what I drove I would not want to wheel with them anyway.

The grass is always greener on the other side...jeep life is very pricey. For a quality lift kit your looking at just as much money for a rancho. 300-400 buck lift will get you a ****ty ride.

Done the Jeep thing already. That is why I have Hummers now. Many of us have to learn on our own so make your choices and live with them. They are different. Lots of options for Jeeps but they all tend to wind up looking the same anyway.

I am a previous Jeep owner. There is a huge part of me that wishes I did not sell it. I will definitely own another, but I will never get rid of my Hummer. This vehicle will stay with me forever. Just get a Jeep and have two man! :mock:

Edit 1: If you do not have enough money to switch. Don't. Just pay it off, and when the time is right, then switch. The Jeep line is not going anywhere. The Hummer is a classic.

What kinda jeep? It depends....An H3 with 35s front and rear lockers rancho spring over compared to a JK with front and rear lockers 35s lift and front and rear lockers they are about the same...

Im 18 and will never trade the hummer for a jeep. Rode in and driven plenty of 4 door and 2 door jeeps to know they ride like a covered wagon. Im not a 2 dorr guy anyways but hey, to each his own i have nothing against jeeps i just dont want one haha. Its nice to be able to go wheeling then hop on 95 and go 70 and be comfy.

Theres no such thing as a maintenance free off road rig. Plus ifs gives us more clearance because of no pumpkin (diff) just less flex. Which you dont really need in the south anyways

Thanks for all the replies guys I think I'm gonna keep my h3 for right now and still be part of the jeep recovery team ... Maybe I'll get a jeep a few years down when I have some extra cash to blow or maybe a new 2015 mustang they're reallllll nice makes me miss my old one
