Hello all, I have had my H3 since last August and have been adding mods here and there. I knew I wanted a roof rack and I came across The Knight Metal Works rack while looking and I immediately knew I wanted the Adventure rack so I contacted Robert (Scarsman) and the plans began. After many many emails which included custom measurements and requests the rack was planned and built and about a month ago now I received my order and boy am I extremely happy with the outcome. I wanted to wait to get my lights and stuff installed before posted the pics and I still have three sets of lights to get and install but I figured it was time to show some pics so here they are.
This is the crate that was custom made to ship the rack in, the trailer it is on is 12ft long and 6 1/2 ft wide
This obviously is a front end shot of my H3
next is the driver's and passenger sides of the rack and a shot of the mount and KMC logo that is on the support tabs
this is a shot of the ladder I requested. Robert said this is his first ladder build in this design so it's very cool that I have the prototype. Notice in the closer shots how he designed the steps, it is very nice to have a big flat area to put your foot on and then the wall on the back side so you're foot doesn't slam into the rear window
this is a front and rear view of the floor of the rack, I did get the high lift jack option but I have not got my jack yet
and now for the pics of the front end of the rack, I installed these after market roof marker lights well before getting the rack so Robert had me measure many different measurements and he actually custom made the front of the rack to clear the roof marker lights and as you can see it turned out absolutely perfect. I also love the easy adjustment slots he made to mount your lights, as you can see the lights aren't wired yet but there is four grooves to mount the lights (the two outside grooves are 9 inches in length and the inside grooves are 7 inches in length) so you could use a wide range of lights. I sent Robert the dimensions of these KC's I was planning to use and he made the protection bars the perfect size to make the lights look great
lastly I asked Robert to make me some tabs to mount lights on the side of the rack (like alley lights on a patrol car light bar) and some tabs on the rear and we decided to weld the rear tabs directly onto the rack and then he made me some custom tabs for the sides that simply mount to the existing mounting brackets so I have the choice to have the tabs on or off. They are not on right now because I still haven't got my lights yet but I will post some pics of the brackets and lights when I get them installed.
lastly I just want to say thank you again to Robert for the awesome rack and ladder and I STRONGLY urge anybody that is looked to put a roof rack on their vehicle to contact Robert and support a member and sponsor. I guarantee he will more then meet you expectations and you'll be extremely happy with the product you receive. Any feedback or questions are welcomed and if anybody wants a picture of a particular part that was not provided then just ask, thanks for your time and I hope this post helps or at least entertains lol. Thanks all
