Lamborghini Ownership Anyone ?

This thread makes me feel so poor.

I'm far from wealthy. No kids. Mid 50s. I live simple. Own small Condo. Own two vehicles: H3 and Hybrid. Own one small TV. Theoretically if I'd married in my 30s and had one child then I would not be in the situation I'm in now. Frankly, I never thought I would be single with no kids. However, today the American marriage seems like a "Man Killer" because most men that I know got "cleaned out" in divorce court thanks to US Feminists and US laws giving women more power than men. Unfortunately, today it's not in a man's best interest to be married or have kids. Today AW (American Women) have all the power unfortunately. Last year a USA Today/CNN survey indicated it costs about $350k to raise one child to 18 years of age. Private schools, food, shelter, clothes, trips, college, etc; not including all the time involved being with your child. Time = Money. The following Vids prove my point.

I am concerned about the possibility of unruly kids and other strange people taking pictures of me, and the Car, or filming me without my consent. I cannot imagine driving down the highway and some punk kids taking my picture, or worse filming me on their cell phones, if this is even legal?

Not sure what the laws are in your state but here in California, the only time you need to get consent to film or photograph someone in public is if you will be using the footage for any type of commercial purpose, and even then if you fail to get their consent, you can keep the footage and use it for personal purposes all you want, you just can't use it for commercial purposes. In other words: If you drive down the street and I think you car is cool, then there is nothing you can do to stop me from filming / photographing it.

Personally I wouldn't want any exotic vehicle like that unless I had millions laying around as disposable cash and wanted more attention. I'd rather have something like a C7, a car I wouldn't feel guilty daily driving in good weather, wouldn't draw a crowd, and has as much exotic car performance and styling as I'd ever want. Not to mention, I can pop down to my local dealership for any work that needs done and I wouldn't have to sell my kids to pay for it.

If the existing C7 isn't enough for you, wait a year for the C7 Z06 (or even Z07). None of the C7s have the wow factor of a Lambo, but since that's something the OP wants to avoid.... Not that a C7 is the only option, Jag F-type, a couple Lotus models, SLK55 AMG, and plenty more 2 seat high end sports cars that would be easier to live with day to day.

Also, they are easy to live with, daily drive-able and the cost to maintain them is relatively low. Plus! They are relatively affordable used with low miles

Quite the opposite. Extremely unreliable and even dangerous because their suspension was unstable for the amount of power they had. They have some serious design flaws, but they are extremely beautiful and have the most beautiful sounding engine.

2. Maintenance Hassles ( Dealer 1+ hour away. Only dealer can make repairs, etc )
3. Jealous and/or angry behavior and personal questions from people I don't know from Adam.
4. Guilt = I have friends who work hard and are struggling and take the Bus to work, or even walk. I'd rather spend that money on disabled kids or abused animals.
5. I would probably get anal about caring for the vehicle and would take up a lot of my time that I could be traveling abroad, helping people and doing meaningful things derived from my inner happiness.

My dad owns a 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage and he's never had any reliability or safety issues. They are extremely well built and have the most rigid chassis in their class. The only potential issue, which is rare, is attributed to premature clutch failure.

I'm extremely well researched on them, so I must respectfully disagree with your assessment

The V8 motor starts life out as a Jaguar 4.2L, and is sent to Cologne, Germany where it is bored out to a 4.3L (now 4.7L in newer V8's). Very solid motor, and easy to work on. The V12 is obviously more expensive to maintain

I guess it depends where you live too. If friend and neighbors are having trouble paying for a bus fare and you rolling by in ~200+K car, it may become a problem. But if you live in upscale "hood" I don't see Lambo bringing too much attention.

I don't think it's due to opinions, at least I wouldn't care. It's the unwanted attention. I have a highly modified '77 Celica that I used to drive before it developed an over heating problem and essentially went into storage. As crazy as it may sound, I got tired of all the attention I'd get from driving it. It was fun at first, all the waves, people asking me what it is, compliments at stop lights, other people that knew what it is telling me stories about their high school Celica.. When 75% of the time you get out of the car in public and someone starts talking about your car, it get's old.

Funny thing, this is just an old Celica. Nothing special. A bit uncommon, but it's just a grocery getter from the '70s - at least what you can see from the outside. I can't imagine what it would be like driving an exotic car around this part of Utah.

Funny you are curious if it draws attention then say it looks like the one in this video. My 9 YO spotted this exact car pulling out of a parking lot a couple months ago.

Texas has a law against taking photos without permission for sexual gratification. For some guys, photos of exotics could fall under this law.

My H1 attracts too much attention even though its in California, especially in LA, where ... as far as rare/exotics go.. its a dime a dozen [I'd see a random H1 every 2-3 weeks that I never seen before]. I don't notice it because I'm too busy driving, but my passengers usually notice people on the highway looking at it, or taking pictures/video all the time.

I can't imagine driving around in a lambo if attention is a concern.

I'm still amazed that my truck survived 7-8 years as a soft top in LA without getting messed with or broken into... on the other hand I took care to never ever street park the thing. Pay parking wherever you go, or a trusted valet.
