I'm am 17 and as my dad calls it I'm going though my "dumbass" faze like all teenagers go through. I am extremely blessed with my parents that I have and to be driving an H3. And I'll be the first to tell you that if this happened to me I would be driving a pos corolla after. Count your blessings.

These guys on this forum may come off a little strong at times but in the end they are trying to help you. Whether it be giving you advice or making smartass comments. They are all here to help.

I'm not going to tell how to spend your money but I will offer you two pieces of advice. First let your parents read through these threads. They may change their minds about certain things that in the end may help you. Second, ride with you friends. It keeps miles off your truck and saves you gas money.

Thank You, I honestly did not mean for this. The truth is that this whole thing has me so stressed out all the little hits just threw me over the edge. I got pissed off and I let anger get the best of me. Hopefully one day i'll be able to shake your hand and apologize before we go wheeling.

Understandable, thats why i havent pressed for it. I love my 3 but for 20k i know id be tryin to find another one before i rebuild it. A 6.2 would be badass though..[emoji48]

To the OP:
At one point in this thread you were talking about going for a 6.2 swap done by Mash motors and you then went on to say that you hadn't spoken with them in depth about the project (or maybe it was just a reference to the which transmission you'd use).

If you are still looking at going that route, please take the time to talk to them at length about how they will do the project. Ask specific questions about how they will make that 6.2 fit and how they will make a 6 speed transmission fit. Ask how they will make the rest of the drive train work. Ask them how many conversions they have done. Ask for references. Talk to those references, learn how reliable (or not) their trucks have been since the conversion and ask them about how they use their trucks (Street queens? Wheelers?)

I don't know Mash motors and have no idea how capable they are. they may very well be, but if you are going to have them do a big expensive conversion, then do yourself the favor of checking them out in great depth and detail first.

Jay is not an *******. In my opinion and in my world anyone who has served, especially to the extent that he has is entitled to a little more. We don't say it enough but thank you to Jay and all the others that have served.To his other point, don't take things personally. A lot of people on the forum are very experienced, very successful and/or both and that means they have strong opinions and usually good reasons for them. Listen and learn. Not everybody's thoughts will match yours but there are good reasons behind them so learn from them.By the way Jay it has been way too long. On one of my trips back home we need to get together again. You pick the place, it is on me.

Does the swap include a selectable transfer case? I can believe 24mpg in 2WD is possible.

I did talk to mike from mash motors and we went pretty in depth, not too far. He himself has a 2010 H3 with the conversion done. He has a 4" rancho and is running 37's and he gets 17mpg city. I told him that the main purpose of the truck was to be a daily driver and I would off-road on weekends. He said that they have done 10 H3's with the 6.0 and 12 with the 6.2 (give or take 1 or two on either I can't remember completely). He said that they have never had problems with the suspension and differentials. I asked him "do you think it's worth it?" And i know it's biased, but he replied "OOOOOOOOHHHHH YEAHHHHH!" Then he went on to talk about how much better the truck feels with the power. I did not ask him about the T-case or the transmission. It will not be the last talk with him I have.

Current pics of the rig.

Today i'll be going to the shop with a couple cans of electrical cleaner and start spraying whatever I can find. Then the next step is to buy a BCM and plug it in to see what electrical damage I have. This is just to give me peace at mind.

Another place down the street actually has the schematics to the H3 so I might stop by and ask them what plugs can't be found or seen easily.

I am a Noncommissioned Officer, a leader of soldiers." live by those words if your gonna display them, be professional and as a soldier sailor airman or marine i expect and hold people to a higher standard than everyone else in the world, and he asked for support not for criticism, his mind was already made up on what he wants to do, your not paying the bill so let it be, help the kid with info as needed , and we can all learn from this, every single person i bet wished they had a hummer when they were kids and i know i did, and no reason to hate on someone just because they are young and have the funds to do what they want. enough of the immature comments, this site is for the trucks, keeping them running since they no longer make them, and having a good time, keep it professional guys!!
