Well at this point like Dave we've got a lot going on so I'd say the odds of us making it are 50-50. Also an early Rocky Mt. snow storm will definitely keep me from hauling this 8000 lb. load (crawler & trailer) over the Eisenhower and Vail passes (one of the reasons I've always wished Blacksheep weeks were in May & Sept.). I'm currently installing a Bank's Speedbrake in the Silverado so if we do make it hopefully we won't be burning up the brakes on those long steep 7% grade descents!

Doug, if it turns out we don't make it I hope leaving the strap with Neo won't be an inconvenience. I suppose someone else would claim it?

I hate to jump on this band wagon but, this trip is lookin alittle iffy. At least the whole week anyway. We will be just gettin back from visitin family in Jersey on the 12th and tryin to leave again in 2 weeks might be pushin it...We are still goin to try for a few days anyway. Its only 6 hrs away for us. So, thats what makes it even harder not to go. And I already know...Its better to beg for forgiveness then ask for permission...

Also QCHummer, protection is really whats needed for your rig. Not sure what side biters are but, if that means rock rail then you should be good. There are bypasses on alot of trails and if not, you just have to go slow and steady. W/ Black Sheep, there is alot of good support there. Even better then a jock strap...

With the exception of the more extreme trails you'll be fine. However if your still running with stock tie rods you really should upgrade to aftermarket "bullet proof" TR's.

I've personally witnessed bent and broken stock H2 TR's on at least 2 occasions in Moab. And if you don't have a spare, your in a world of hurt!

Here's what can happen. This is not Moab, it's a trail in CO but you get the idea. Yep, that's Alec driving (Our old friend from the past. He had to leave the H2 on the trail overnight and come back the next day with a replacement TR.):

As for the strap, I'm sure NEO will guard it and make sure you get it.

Way it looks right now, I'll be moving sometime between Oct 1- Oct 4.

QC you should be fine. Rocker panel protection would be a good add and a spare half shaft and tir rod. Both are relatively inexpensive. Listen to the spotters and the odds are you will have no issues.

Well we're sure going to try. But like I said in my first reply to this thread:

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Kat and I are planning on making this one. Planning on bringing something totally different to wheel with.
Hint: Neo, can I park a flatbed trailer at your house?

The thing is we have a new tenant moving into our rental property on Oct. 1st, but they might be a few days late and I may need to be present during the first few days while they move in. And if it snows, I've got to keep the road open for them as well. A lot of this depends on our Rocky Mountain weather up here at 9000 ft. elevation.
So from one "WhiteBeard" to another, we're really hoping to see you in Oct! :thumbs:

Doug, we're only a 45 min. drive north of I-70 (taking the Central City exit just before you come through Idaho Springs). Your more than welcome to come for a visit!
We could even run some local trails assuming they haven't been closed by early snowfall.

That sounds like a pretty fun plan to me.... Maybe we can make this happen!
I've already got my reservations at the Sleep Inn from the 7th to the 11th.
I'll have to see if I can get out of here early and stop by for a visit!

Mainly being I won't be in Colorado for the fall semester, but with all my traveling that I have to do with my new job I might be able to pop into the area for "business"... who knows time will tell. But in the meantime, it looks like my "business" will be taking me into Moab in the next 3 days or so. So dare I say, I might rent something other then a Land Rover and get my jollies out on a few trails before moving on down the road to help make up for missing fall haha.

So unfortunately what ended up happening was my trip got moved up a day and I ended up flying out of El Paso. So I hit NM that same night I was in Moab, and then the next day drove from albuquerque to El Paso and jumped on the flight that evening. Barely had time to squeeze everything in, luckily that airport is tiny. While rushing down did cut my Moab trip short too, I did manage to stop and grab some takeout though on the way through.
