I always liked the Raptor. I heard that they do well in Moab. Do they have any options for front locker?

I always thought that the original F-150 was UGLY! ( not to offend anyone, know that some people may like it but its not my taist or style)

But the Raptor really gets my liking. Ford hit a home run on my " vehicle style " chart.

I am sure you can wire in an elocker or air locker. I think it is basically the same front diff in the F-150. If I do upgrade the front end I probably will just put in a Torsen front end from a 2012. I think it is still a bolt in, but not sure. When some 2012s come into the dealer may be I will see if they will let me take a look / measurements.

Should be good in Moab. Think about it, wide stance, pretty good flex for pick-up, a wired in rear locker, good to any speed when the right button is pushed. The Hill decent control, though I hate letting computers do my work, works awesome.

Needs for Moab... more skid plates, rock sliders... and better tires.

Did I read this right? The 2012 Raptors has a Torsen front diff?

Edit: went and looked at their website and sure enough, the 2012's have a Torsen front end. Very cool! If I was in the market for an offroad truck I'd look VERY seriously at an F150 Raptor.

Looks like they even have an option for a front looking camera to help "self spot"

My buddey and his brother each bought 1. they loved them. They brough the front end up on both trucks. The FOX CO's have perches where you can set the height. They raised one notch and front end alignment. Fast trucks to! Very comfortable. I specd one out at $51K loaded. not bad considering the fox upgrade/ coilovers, and comes with 35 bfg at's already. Take a standard loaded truck and add the coilovers, shocks, tires, etc and you get into that $60K catagory pretty fast.

That is exactly why I went with the Raptor. I won't wheel it often, but it gives to the option to hit the trails spur of the moment if I feel like it. The 8k towing capacity is just enough for me too, so I opted to spend the cash on this truck (off-road, limited run, speed, looks) over a F350 like my original plan

The truck is also 2" wider than a H1. It is also Taller and Longer... after following H1s though the woods on Drummond Island. It ain't gonna fit. So looks like I am going to keep it for the road and sand dunes and perhaps some of the old sand routes up north.

It is really wide, but the width I thought was almost exactly the same as an h1 (which is 86.5 without mirrors). Does the width include the fender flares? If so then the body itself might be as much as 4" narrower. Not a lot but every inch counts when one is squeezing 20 lbs of siht into a 10 lb bucket.

maybe the specs online are off but they all seem to say 86.3" width.

"What is most striking is how this truck with a track width 2 inches wider than that of the gargantuan mil-spec Hummer H1-manages to feel so light and tossable (even with that supernumerary foot)." This comes from Motortrend's review of the truck. Also, I was at a buddies house and we measured his HMCO from fender to fender, it came out about 2" narrower than outside of tire to outside of tire on my raptor. I don't remember the numbers we measured though. What makes the truck look and feel smaller than a H1 I think is the fact that it is a regular F150 Cab, fenders and suspension is all that is larger
