H3 need your help guys

hello.

i had an h3x 2006 model, I5, it was great and full options except its engine power. I sold it long time back and now planning to buy another one. I found a 2009 H3 Alpha but I am confused. It has no alpha logo on seats or on steering wheel. just a logo in the back. and it has the alpha engine. the owner did not make any modifications on the car yet. how come it is alpha edition with no logo inside? see photo. thanks.

I've seen a few 09 models like that. Especially the silver model alpha's with the cloth seats f/r lockers and fender flares.

If I had the $$$ I'd have bought the mint condition fully loaded 06 with the black/orange leather seats and trim I found yesterday!!!!! It was like a time capsule H3 lol and one owner!! I know the 3.5L isn't a powerhouse but it's 99% flat here lol. Just felt bad I couldn't just hand over the cash like Dallas Car Sharks haha.

well i don't care much about badges but i sounded weird cause as far as i know it should have the alpha logo on seats and steering wheel. another issue, it does not have the 2 buttons on the right over the screen as it was mentioned somewhere on the forum. now confused if it is a luxury or normal alpha. I do not know the difference between the different packages. they mentioned something related to the ratio of gear. 4:1 or 2.6:1. this one is what? hmmmm

Its the regular one at my looks, no locker. Those are the two buttons you're talking about I assume? So, it not being an adventure package it would be the 2.6:1 transfer case I guess. Idk the full specs on the Alpha, I own an i5

Sounds like the Championship Edition but if it doesn't have front and rear lockers (if that is what you are describing as the 2 buttons on the right over the screen) which you picture indicates, it is not. If it is, it would have front and rear lockers, V8 Engine, Fender Flares, Blacked out Vinyl piece between the hood vent and windshield, red calipers, rock rails, bush guard and UCP. If it was an exported vehicle, there may be some variances. That would explain the fender flares because some countries will not allow the tires to extend beyond the fenders. Nice looking rig nevertheless.

so what do u think? 2.6:1 ratio is bad? shall i or shall i not? because am willing to modify it for some offroad adventures on weekends.

Works perfectly fine for me, and most of the members here. I don't really know the benefits of having the 4:1 transfer case other than that your crawl ratio is really low so that way you go much slower. But again I'd wait for someone else to post. I really do wish my ride at least had the rear locker though at some times.

Yeah I would like you to share your experience before I go and buy this H3. Let me tell you that am not living in the states. This car is sold by the local dealer of hummer where am living in the middle east. Friends are pushing me to go for an FJ and modify it. I had one before and it is good enough but I do like H3 more except that I would only go for an alpha. my I5 H3 was amazing but slow :( no enough power to take big dunes. with a V8, it is totally different.

I think you will like it. If I was to buy another H3 it would at least have to have rear lockers. I would love to have one with front and rear though

Yeah 5.3L is an Alpha no matter what. I so want a Championship Edition!!! It's got the 5.3L and cloth seats lol. I love my Alpha, but honestly I prefer cloth seats. I know of a Championship Editon for sale near me with like 5k more on it vs mine, but I'd have to buy it, swap out the stuff I want, and then sell mine. I also found a sweet mint 06 Adventure/Lux edition near me with the rare black/orange leather seats, but I don't think I could go from the V8 or my wife's 3.7 to the 3.5L. I drove it and it wasn't bad, but loaded down with all my stuff it would probably bog down lol.

I'd buy it and put the lockers in, I'd put a detroit or similar locker in the back and an e-locker in the front. As for the transfer case low range, unless you'd driving where finesse is everything (rocks); you don't need a 4:1 t-case with the 5.3. I have an Alpha with the adventure package, and honestly, the 4:1 is a hindrance because I cannot start in 3rd gear, and the locker (factory) only works in low range. I solve the low range issue with a switch, but again, I'd rather the non-adventure package truck to start with.

Save yourself a couple grand. You can make your own Champ Edition with a can of red Krylon. Its an Adv. Pak Alpha with red brake calipers and some flat black tape on the hood.

Another goofy GM attempt at making something special. Fail.

Thats a SA model Alpha, it probably isnt an adventure package. If you live in the gulf (cant tell where you are from tapatalk) you wont need the 4:1 transfercase since most wheeling in tgis region is on sand (you also wont need lockers much just larger tires)
I am yet to ever get stuck on sand, never used the 4LO button and never was in a situation where I needed lockers. Running 35" All terrains they are enough for the terrain.

My Alpha running 35" tires, with k&N filter and a Borla Exhaust is faster than a Stock FJ. Tires Aired down, the FJ has more torque off the line but slightly that is. Now that Im tuned I have more power (35" tires are the main killer). An FJ is better suited for the sand dunes, the 8" of front travel makes it a beast, but the H3 does fine. Plus, you can't run 35s on an FJ without atleast a 6" lift + some trimming!

Is it this one? What price did you get it down to? The offered price is abit high I think when compared to other cars of same size.

yeah i contacted the owner but they r not willing to go down. honestly speaking its market price is 60 maximum. this is what mannai used showroom told me. I saw a white alpha, just waiting for the owner response. for 60K and mileage is 80,000KM. I am still open for other option, FJ or Patrol VTC 2015 old shape, 2 doors.

If you pass on the white one let me know I could be interested!

Anyway, between the 3 cars the FJ is best suited for sand dunes (unless the patrol has IFS). Personally, I like the Hummer look otherwise I wldve been driving an FJ.
