New horns

So I was browsing around a while ago and came across a video that gave me a great idea for some new horns for the H3. I had originally determined I would get some air horns but not the stupidly clown sized ones or the illegally large and obnoxious "train horns" that I'd need a tow behind compressor to run. But after watching that video I decided to change my mind, and for the better I think. It will be legal since they came from a production vehicle and are factory equipment from this particular manufacturer, they are electric so no messing with a compressor or tank (not that I won't have a compressor on the H3, but still), and they are nice and compact to facilitate easy mounting.

Let's play a game and see if anyone can guess what these come from (tip, they are all from the same vehicle, as in I pulled them all off of just one vehicle at the junkyard, half price no less!):

Yup, a 1994 Cadillac DeVille.

First one I walked up to at the junkyard this evening had all of the horns, and they are the two wire with the weatherproof plugs. I grabbed them and then walked around and saw several others that had all of their horns, but older ones are one wire mostly, though there were some that were two wire but just spade connectors. $22 for all four horns was a nice deal.

This was the video I came across, there are a ton others out there from people comparing their old horns to these:

I cut them off so that I have the pigtails/connectors (that pic is of the actual horns I grabbed). I'll have to make my own harness. I'll probably run the wire from the existing horn into a 40A relay and power the new horns through that relay. Weather and time are not cooperating right now on all of my Hummer projects, so it will probably be a little bit before I can get them installed. I'm really hoping this Saturday will be mostly nice so that I can try to get my heated mirrors finished up and possibly the horns as well.

Older Caddie horns are sweet. If there was a junk yard closer than 50 mi. away, I'd go look for some.

Picked up a full set of Caddie horns today from a 94 Eldorado...purple no less! Lol. Grabbed the harness as well (damn they taped those up good) tested them once home and they do all work, so I hope all the little rice cars and midget sized matchbox cars can hear me coming after them now.:mock:

I removed two from a 1989 Delta 88. I put one where the original one was and the other one in the same place on the other side of the radiator support. Wired everything up, covered wiring in split wire conduit. Looks factory. Sounds like a real truck instead of a compact car.
