I'm new to this forum, but not new to wheeling. I have wheeled throughout So Cal, Colorado and AZ, in Jeeps, Bronco's and Land Rovers. I've been saving for my Hummer purchase and should be in ready to go by fall w/50K to spend. My main focus would be an H1 and have driven a few. I also like the H2's. I've done some work myself and health has the better of me so other than normal maintinence I will have to farm that out. So first, Hello and 2nd any and all advice is welcome in my search. I love adventure wheeling as my rock crawling days may be over. This will be my daily driver (all though I don't drive much and work from home). I like to get out once a month and find a path less traveled.

Welcome to H4O, and greeting from SoCal.
If I had the opportunity to have that much cash again to drop into a Hummer, I would definitely go for an H1. Mi have an H3 and love everything about it, but every time I drive the HMMWV's in the army I can't help myself but to wish I had gotten the H1.

Welcome from Colorado! Look forward to seeing you rescue a hummer. It always makes me sad to see hummers for sale that have never been off road. Trust me, rescuing a neglected hummer is one of the best things I ever did.

Welcome from So Cal. I've heard 2's are like driving a lazy boy down the freeway and do quite well off road.

That's funny - I refer to driving my H2 as driving my living room. Not as big as a whole house, but big and comfy.

As for the OPs question - I'd personally take an H2 over an H1 as a daily driver. As it is, the H2 is almost too wide, the H1 adds just over 5 inches of width. Actually, I think the H3 is the perfect size for a DD/wheeler, but the H3 is not on the list, is underpowered with an I5 IMHO, is hard to find a v8 w/lockers, and just not as comfortable as the H2.

Welcome. H2s are the most comfortable capable 4x4 ever and a dependable DD. that said there is nothing else like an H1. Let us know what your questions are.
