right on Bendy, i started with a regular 9 and a half foot pointy end boat from cabela's. it's where we all start or should. it takes years to get to the level those guys in the videos are, but there are 14 year old girls tearing up that same water, kids these days... don't push yourself too fast and you will naturally progress. watch a lot of youtube videos on basic paddling and read the comments to be sure the guy you're watching is doing it right. there are tons of real good guys out there with training videos. if you get to a whitewater boat maufacturers have lots of good vids, start on calm water etc. Happy Paddlin :cheers:

Nice find that's pretty cool, i think concrete would tend to eat up some paddles after a while. i cringed each time i heard the paddle touch the sides. But right on that they are out there going for it...:cheers:

went and played at Rocky Rapids yesterday it's an area about 14 miles north on the river road that has a fun 500 yard section that has a ramp below and a nice launch point above. made a few runs and only got worked over one time... :horns: I tried to make it thru a big hole, well it seemed big to me, got pummeled and had to swim, what a rush. I surfaced swam my butt off to get to the boat then got it to shore as i watched my paddle go round the bend. had to hike the boat out asked some rafters that were launching to keep an eye out for the paddle then drove down river about 5 miles to wait. had lunch and talked to some peeps two hours later low and behold a couple of rafts showed up and they had found it. so all in all it was a good day, just a couple of bruises and a little rock rash and a sore arm from swimming across the current with the boat in tow.
