Just a word of warning for anyone with a Rancho kit who might think that the front diff to cross member bush problem that many have had, goes away with the fitment of a Rancho kit...think again
I have just put in the 3rd set. The first 2 were rancho originals and there are some design flaws with their bushes. There is only a 3mm gap between the 2 bushes but they bolt to a 7mm plate. This means that they do not inconnect properly and the crush pin is miles too short. I have just had my own made and the crush pin needed to be 9mm longer.
This is the failed bush..it is the 2nd Rancho one I have had fail.
You can see the difference here in the gap between the 2 halves of the bush. The original gap is 3mm but the plate it bolts either side of is 7mm.
It means that the already too short centre crush pin is even shorter than it needs to be. They are polyurethane bushes, not rubber and the 2 materials operate differently. Polyurethane works best with a crush pin which is just short of the length.
It also means that the centre boss is too short and in fact only just located by 1 to 2mm. As you can see, it has torn out. The new one has a longer centre boss to maintain location even allowing for the thicker plate it is bolted to.
Clear as mud???
