Partial Grille Blackout

I wanted to get rid of the chrome but still wanted it to not disappear into the hood. So I had a shop do a wrap before I painted it to make sure I liked it. The result is perfect, in the process of painting it where the wrap is black, and leaving just the slight bits of chrome inside the slits.

Although now i'm thinking about doing a linex paint job on the whole truck, undecided. I'm trying to maintain balance between business appropriate (corporate exec) and tough off roader.

I have no idea why GM didn't paint the bumper as an option with every color & didn't do a midnight edition of the H2s every year that looks like yours.
The tires & blacked out accents make it look like something the CIA would roll up in. I want to do this to an H3 & I think you justified the look.

Normally, I'd not a fan of the chrome handles, but I think they look good on your truck. Not sure if it crossed your mind, but I wouldn't change those.

Thanks, I really appreciate the compliments. I tried to balance the remaining shiny bits front to rear, rear tow rings & plate frame on the rear, handles and mirrors on the side etc. The hard part was the grille, doing the markers and painting the skid plate black tied it all together but also so it still has that depth & detail. I contemplated a full blackout but I think it turns it into a black hole lol.

GM at least gave us the basis on which we build our dreams :) I can say, its my first truck, and I'm never getting rid of it.

For some reason when I see this rig, I think of someone wearing a tuxedo with mud boots.

(and that is meant as a compliment)

8^)
