Rear locker for 09 3.7L h3 non adventure.

I wanna buy a eaton rear e locker for my h3.
I want to know which one fits my 09 h3.
and whats the cost for installing at a shop?
I know I dont have tools and a garage to do that.

I have no idea about this but buying it. any suggestion is appreciated.

Mine was around $430 to install, which is on the low side. I got quotes up to $1100. Gotta shop around and choose a shop you trust or that has some good rep.

$1100 is a rip off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :shame:$430 seems still expensive.

I might go to Pepboys.

This is the one that will fit your '09 H3. You will also need races, bearings, wiring & a switch (Eaton makes a switch/wiring harness that you can buy for about another $125). Labor/installation varies greatly depending on your local shop (anywhere from $450 - $800).

Shim kit may be necessary as well. Runs about $80 from GM. I would recommend going to a 4x4 shop or driveline specialist vs. Pepboys.

I agree 100%. May be cheaper initially but if they mess up and your do damage to the rear end then you will end up paying more in the long run.

I got a locker from MaxPF, installed, for dirt cheap. But "dirt cheap" then has the add-ons of the $80 shims, $20 bearings, $26 races, $45 gear oil, $20 axle seals and $25 wiring. Installation is a whole 'nuther issue. MaxPF probably spent at least 3 hours under the truck installing the locker. I spent at least one hour on wiring. That would explain why it took me nearly five years to get a locker as I don't think you will generally get a new one purchased and installed for under $1000-$1100.

alex is right davidh3...its a lot of work. I installed my own too. It took a good amount of time, longer then 3 hours for me. MaxPF has more experience then I do. I broke it into 2 installs, one was the locker install and one was wiring...I actually ran the locker without being wired in for about 3 weeks

Shims can also be a PITA because if you don't get the right shim the first round then you must try another shim.

I got my e-locker right from my dealer. The part number on the box is #25958396, I checked it today at work. I paid $550 for the unit, $90 for the different size carrier bearings , $15 for axle seals and $20 for syn lube. I found a set of super shims in my tool box left over from a previous diff job. Those shims are great. You just build a stack of shims the thickness needed to set backlash. I built a case spreader to facilitate removing and installing the diff assembly. Why I didnt make up one of those years ago I dont know. It sure makes it easier. For wiring I just used a lighting relay with a safety switch on the lower left IP controlled by the ing switch. I put a red led in the dash next to the 4x4 controlls to indicate diff locked.
