Starting issues

Good afternoon everybody....... I am having a strange issue and wanted to know if anyone else is having the same. Once in a while I will get in my Hummer and hit the key to start her up and I get nothing. Absolutely nothing. No turning over, no sound like a dead battery noise or starter clicking, nothing!!!

This can happen anytime. Might start great a hundred times and then that one time I get nothing. This may last only 5 or 10 minutes of me constantly trying and retrying to turn the key and then finally she cranks up!?!?! WTF........any ideas? My thought is the ignition switch?

Thanks,
Doug

Is the red security light blinking on the dash? If so, it is the dreaded Passlok problem. Not a big deal to fix but a pain nonetheless. There is a 10-minute delay before it will start again. There are plenty of threads here discussing it, best and easiest fix is to have PCM of NC program the computer to ignore it, they are a sponsor here.

Best fix would be to fix it rather than disabling a built in security feature. If your vehicle was stolen and recovered in the future your insurance could deny the claim. 50 bucks, 10 minutes and a couple screws to fix it.

While I agree that the best answer is to fix it, the idea that an insurance company could deny a stolen vehicle claim because of a disabled security feature is a complete falsehood.

In practice, but insurance companies routinely deny claims and bank on not being sued- hence much of my career path fighting insurance companies...

So with that philosophy, any modifications done to a car could result in a denial of a claim. I would love to see the $50 fix.

Had same exact problem. Ended up cutting the stock battrry terminals and replacing them with anything that clamps better.
4 years later still perfect
