Wife's G6 went to a Chevy dealership to get worked on and I just wanted to look at the sliverado. Seen a 2011 2500 exd cad with the 6.6 diesel. The only part that got me thinking was less patment, apr and maybe more MPG. Tomarrow I may do the whole keep the truck over night thing, I'm worried because I love my t and I put so much work into her......

Keep it!!!!!! If you get a chevy truck, im sure your going to regret it as soon as you drive off the lot. Just remember this, they still make chevy trucks. They don't make Hummers anymore!

You've got one of the most unique vehicles out there - I think you would miss it if you let it go. Unless you gotta haul horses, stick with the Hummer! There are many members here that sold their first Hummer and have come back with new ones.

Think long and hard! I wouldnt do it...alrock is right, most people have no idea the H3T even existed. Everyone sees other things in life and wants it...thats what humans do but at the end of the day if the H3T wasnt in the driveway would you be sad?

For me personally there are days where I get pist at my H3 for some dumb reason but at the end of the day I love it to death and wouldnt sell it...

I kept my '89 Chev. K1500 EC just because I put so much in to it over the years and I could never get a good return if I did sell it. I decided to keep it for the dirty jobs; hauling and so forth. My H3T is my recreational and enjoyment vehicle and I can get slightly better mileage most of the time than the Chevy gets.

Don't do it. There are sooo many Silverados and sooo few H3Ts on the road.

Look, is the interior in the Chevy nicer? Yes. Better fuel economy? Slightly, but, yes.

Does it look or perform like a Hummer? No, not even close.

Get a Chevy and you'll just end up putting a 4" lift and Rockstars on it like everyone else...

I understand ur situation... I mean thoughs Silverado look bab a$$, but so do the t's and they are very rare which is a big plus. At the end of the day u need to do what's best for u and ur needs. My opinion is don't do it if u don't need to, the fact that u have such a rare truck speaks volumes.

Think of all the chrome thats going to go on that truck if you trade her in. You can't let a poor T go through that. But seriously whichever vehicle better suits your needs is what you should go with.

Are you *sure* you will end up with a lower payment? Granted, I know nothing about how you purchased your T, but it's still a pretty new truck so there is a real chance you will have to take quite a hit on the trade-in price

Go get a late-model Duramax truck from a salvage yard. You know...one of those brand new ones that gets hit with only 1200 miles on it. Chop the frame to match the H3 wheelbase, and put your Hummer body down on it. I bet this is simpler, cheaper, and works better than doing a motor/drivetrain swap (BullyDog). I'de like to see this project.

Just another tidbit, when i was at my dealer last august, the sales rep (personal family friend) said that a gm rep told them that in 2013-ish gm is remodeling the chevy pickups and are to include diesels in the lineup, then ones that already dont have a diesel model. So if your lookin for new looks, id wait till then, plus then the current models will be even cheaper!

I've been thinking about this from the day I picked her up, I'm planing to get an 2005 with the LBZ 6.6 block and I think aSingle cab 5' bed will match the t best. Your all your right and I'm sure glad you guys had a lot to say about this plan. One thing that I can't live with is the center dash panel, I can't stand the shifter near the steering wheel. Could I call my T a HUMMER if its on a sliverado frame?

It strikes me that those are different vehicles with different purposes. Think hard about what you want to do with the truck. If you want to tow, go with the Chevy diesel. If you want to go offroad, stick with the H3T. I have an old F-250 and an H3. I use the H3 for light towing (small sailboat). But, use the F-250 for the heavy lifting (travel trailer). I would not think of taking the F-250 offroad. The H3 would have to rescue it!:huh:

I think all of the salesmen get that "inside scoop"... I am still waiting for the small diesel in the Tahoe that I heard about in 2002. Look at how long it took GM to get the H3 into production after initial concept. Six years I believe. One thing for sure, any new diesel powerplant will probably appear in another body going up Pikes Peak highway this summer for some altitude testing. Interesting what we see around here.

The main goal is to one day put a diesel engine in my T, I want to put in a dramaxx engine but itll be to heavy for the front end. What I'm looking at right now is a V6 diesel from BMW.

Now that would be amazing!!!!! How about a Cummins 4 liter. That thing is a small torque monster and easy to do. BMW might be more complicated getting it to work with other trannys. Cummins has a ton of options and they sell them as crate motors.
