Scarsman and I checked out Walker Valley ORV this week. It is located about 65 miles north of Seattle and has trails for 4x4's, quads, and dirt bikes. It has about 10 miles of trails for 4x4's, most trails are well marked and maps of the area are available.

Access to the trails seemed to be the first challenge, we were greeted with lots of closed yellow gates barring access to roads to the trails. There were bypasses setup to get around the gates, but one was not friendly for bigger rigs. After getting past the gatekeeper, we were able to start running some trails.

A couple of trails ended up being too narrow for us to run. We headed down one trail that was exceptionally muddy and rocky. I managed to get stuck about half way down. I got high centered climbing down a ledge.

Lucky for me I always bring my trusty Scarsman with me on the trails. He is always ready to pull winch line to help a friend out.

After winching me free, I managed to get stuck again on a couple of rocks. This time Scarsman used the hi lift jack to help get me over the obstacle. After he showed me how to run the trail, we searched for a spot to park and run our "other trucks".

We found a rock pit and let the "kids" play with their rc crawlers.

Walker Valley was a fun area to explore, the narrow trails and closed gates did make navigating the area a challenge, but we had a fun trip overall.

Here is a link with more info, maps, and directions to the area.

It was a fun day! H3slate was up for a visit, ( and to have a bumper and sliders built for his RC truck!) and we decided to make run up there and check it out. It was pretty rainy, which meant some mud.

It was kind of an impromptu trip, so I didn’t get a lot of pictures. That and with the rain, no one wanted to stand outside and take pictures! Here is what I got:

As usual, pictures don’t really show just how rough and bouldery this hill was.

H3slate was in the lead. When he got hung up on the ledge, he needed to be pulled forward. We had to run line and use a snatch block to pull him off the ledge.

Here is the spot where he was hung up. I did scrape coming over it, but my 37”s were enough that I was able to get through all of it without getting hung on anything. Definitely gave the UCP a work out though!

After the ledge, this boulder caught on H3slate’s rear diff:

Another one got under the transmission skid. We jacked the front up and stuck a rock under the tire and he was good to go.

I have a couple videos I’ll post up when I get them uploaded.

Was just watching the news and wondering if you were lending a hand with that mess.

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if I was on the news. Gov. Inslee showed up - what a jackass - he said "it appeared that we were doing a good job." really? He's the Governor that no one admits to voting for... he doesn't even appear to be a good Governor.

What was kind of funny, he came in on a Blackhawk helicopter, and we have a station in the field to decontaminate the helicopters (it's away from the normal LZ) - that's where they landed him, so we were wondering if they were going to decontaminate the helicopter once the politicians left. Personally, I expressed concern that they wouldn't be able to get that crap off and they'd have to throw it away.

Looks like an awesome time. You guys are great with winching recovery. I have seen on your other runs you guys setup these well thought out plans to get people unstuck if your behind them and they dont have a winch.

It's amazing how close you were to where I was... though I don't really recommend the place right now. I was at Oso helping with LZ operations.

Yes, it is just north of there. We have driven through there several times. We know someone who's cousin's wife is missing out there. Very tragic thing!
