I can understand this about you more than most. You are not only a geek at heart but grew up where Lego was created! Ole Kirk Christiansen's birthday is celebrated by geeks every year on February 7th.

I grew up with 3 large tubs of Lego's. I'd build all sorts of contraptions including engines with pistons that moved up and down, 2 speed stick shift gear boxes, differentials, independent rear suspensions.... ah, the memories

Someone had way better Legos than I did.

I dunno about that.... I used very basic components from their "Technic" series. Axles, gears, u joints and regular Lego bricks and rods and bars

I *did* have to modify one of my larger gears to be usable in my home-built differential, I had to drill out the center hole to allow an axle to pass through and spin independently. Oh, and my 2 speed gear box wasn't synchronized....

I never had the Technic series. Just the basic blocks they used for buildings, cars, and the like (though we had a huge tub of those). Did get KNex when I was a bit older, but their node pieces sucked as gears and bound up more frequently than not. Sheesh, between this thread and stumbling on the Mech Warfare site, I feel like building stuff.

I had something like legos, but I can't remember the name of the toy. It had RC's that you could battle with, or just build with. I think it might start with R but I am not sure. Ill have to see if I can remember it!
