Guys this is just my experience, but I Hate Synthetic lines. I have seen 8 lines snap through all my wheeling and not one was steel, all synthetic. I have seen steel always out preform synthetic. I know the weight an all is dangerous, but find the failure rate is just to high for me.
But then again I don't know how well they took care of their lines.
As a climber, imagine how long your rope would last if you let people walk on it, dragged it over rocks, all that kind of stuff... it's the same with synthetic, you just need to care for it at least a little bit. IF you drag it through 100 feet of mud... maybe spool it out at the end of the day & wash it.
Particles that get into the weave of the rope will eat it up little by little, just like a climbing rope. If you care for it, it will hold up better.
Weight & danger of synthetic, or maintenance of synthetic... it's a trade off for sure.
