Why even bother

So I bought my H3 to replace my aging 1998 Dodge Neon. Granted, it can be a fun car to drive, especially since with mine I had put a 2.4L DOHC engine in it to replace the "meh" 2.0L DOHC engine they come with.

Well, the Neon has been siting for a month and a half now, as I've been driving the H3 everywhere.

Today I decided to drive the Neon to work to stretch it's legs and keep everything lubed and round. The drive in to work was fine, and I seriously started considering going back to driving the Neon to save on gas (not a whole lot, the Neon with the engine swap gets about 21-22 mpg, while the H3 gets 14-15 mpg for me).


Then I took it out to get lunch... And then there was the drive home...

I remember now one of the main reasons why I was so keen on replacing it, my left knee is killing me again thanks to the stiff cable actuated clutch (rather than a hydraulic clutch on other cars/trucks that feel like pressing into butter). So, yeah, screw that noise!! I'll just keep driving my comfy H3 everywhere. :thumbs:

Yeah, but now that I've driven the Neon again after driving the H3, I'm definitely ready to be rid of it. I've got a couple people looking to buy it, one of them is supposed to come over tonight.

I did get some idiot that tried to offer me $400 for the Neon, then countered with $450 when I told him that was way too low. (I'm asking $1000, around Blue Book, which is totally fair given the condition it's in).

I let him know I already have one person offering me $900 for it, only reason I haven't accepted it is because that guy was the second one to contact me yesterday about it, and I wanted to give the first guy the opportunity to take a look at it and make me an offer (I'm not a dick when it comes to selling stuff, I'll always go in order of who contacted me first).

The prick laughed and said "Hmmm, and yet it is still for sale"

I told him why it wasn't marked as sold and why I hadn't accepted the other guy's offer yet.

He just laughed.


Seriously, if you're going to be a dick and try and super lowball people, don't be an even bigger dick and try to make it out like you were doing them a favor and they are idiots for not accepting your "generous offer." :roll:

I ended up selling it last night for $860. Not what I was asking for, but close enough, plus the kid might be back to buy some of the spare parts I still have for the Neon (transmission, rear disc brake setup, body panels, etc, etc)

Now I have some funds to start outfitting the H3 for offroading! :thumbs:

ha ha, I lived in Utah for a while, in fact that's where I bought my 3. People are super cheapskates there. They will try to low ball you every time.

My wife has a 2000 crown vic that's worth so little I wouldn't even bother trying to sell it. I drive it when I'm time of the 3 and I get reminded why I like it every time.
