Wrecked my H3 seeking advice

Thanks for the replies everyone. After much thought I have decided to total it and hunt for a new (used) H3. Insurance is supposedly taking into account the value of the roof rack as well as other mods (sent him receipts/proof of payment/invoices for roughly 3k worth of mods), we'll see how much of that they actually add. If they do not add any of it, then I will most definitely be taking the roof rack with the lights.

I really feel for you. If it at all helps with the sentimental part of it, remember, part of your H3 is still rollin' on. Your old front axle is still sitting under my truck.

Speaking from experience with Geico, 20k is a good deal, they usually do not pay for your add ons unless you opted to have them covered receipts or not, I would take that and run. Upgrade to an Alpha you will forget all about that one in short order when you do. Can't offer anything for sentimentality, I don't form attachments to inanimate objects. If you were closer I would buy it just for something to do on the weekends.

Take the money, buy an alpha, and buy your rig back.

Yeah this plan initially costs you more money, but you get to keep your rig and you can do whatever you want with it. Like part it out or what not. Or just take the stuff you want off of it and then sell it on here. I'm sure someone would buy it.

You said earlier that you didn't have space for it. You can rent a storage unit that you can fit a car in for a month or two while you part it out/try to sell it etc.

Just an idea...

Thanks guys, yea lots of options. I decided to take the full value and total the Alpha. I have pulled the roof rack, ladder, and lights (not sure i want to part with any of it yet); the expensive stuff. I've started to look for another one. I think it made the most financial sense for my situation, Geico's valuation was fair IMO.

Looks like it. Ball park, $2500 motor and tranny, $500 for TC, $1500 for diffs, $500 for seats, $1000 for the small parts.

Sorry to hear about your Alpha, but really glad that everyone is okay. To ease the sentimental loss, have whatever "new" rig you wind up with painted to match your recently departed one.

Glad nobody was hurt. I would have ran with that 20k check. That was a very fare pay out.
