Never leveled mine. I do a lot of 45/55 mph 2 track and forest roads. I would hate to screw up the way the factory set up bites in and the 3 stays planted.

Hunner is spot on with weight transfer ect. I maybe singing a different tune once my winch is on next week. One of the many reasons I went with the Thorparts bumper. 90k and it's never been on a alignment rack.

I align mine at 0 toe with a tape measure front and back of the tires. Works for me and they wear even.

Using some wheel dolly's makes it easier without having to repeatedly jack it up and drive and then check. Usually get it in a couple of tries.

One of the main reasons I went with the Rancho kit is that after leveling to 23.5, Bilsteins and bumps, the truck rides like a bucket. I've driven lifted 3's, the ride is near factory just lifted. Firestone will let you align it every week if you want, they may not like you for it, but they will do it. I didn't have any 3 a year fine print.

My only problem is I live downtown Chicago and in my building I have a 6'6" max height... the lowest you can make the Rancho lift with 35" tires is 6'9"

I leveled mine then the ass started to droop. Then after the weight shift I started having problems with the body mount bushings sounding like driving over R/R tracks on every corner! I think the "best ride" is the stock setup and height, but what is the fun in that. Shocks will help, but there are too many choices and every brand has someone that will recomend it as the best ever. I want to see the list of shocks that are terible and should be thrown in the metals bin then try to pic a set out of the remaning list to try out and hope they work good for me. Lots of factors like tire weight, type of driving, and condition of roads will shrink the list of shocks to get. Just my two cents, and I still have not decided on the best shocks for me yet!

I went with ProComp MX6 adjustable shocks. They say they are all adjustable in the marketing but that is BS. Only the rears are adjustable. I have mine set about half way and feel the ride is pretty good. When I picked up a load of metal on a skid in the back (1,200lbs) I turned them up a bit and actually liked the ride better lol... King Shocks has never offered a replacement for the Hummer H3 but I will send them my one of my front used ones to get custom made.

I think your post is right on target. My H3's ride is anything but "best" but my H3 is set up the way I want for off road - and for looks. Cranked a bit in front. Re-arched rear springs with an added leaf adding about 1.5" in height. OEM Adventure shocks all the way around. For me, that's the best setup I've found to date but it has resulted in a ride like a truck. Good thing that's what the H3 is :)

Shocks, like tires, everyone has an opinion. I've had the Rancho, Bilstein, Stock, non Adv, and Adventure shocks. The Adventure shocks gave the best ride overall, unfortunately they won't work with the lift. The Rancho adjustable are pretty good once you get them dialed in where you want. Rancho shocks are sometimes hit and miss with quality, I have had a lot of lifted trucks that has just been my experience with them. That being said, Rancho is usually pretty good with their warranty.
The Bilsteins are stiff and let you feel every pebble on the road, not necessarily bad, just not what I wanted. Getting replacements is usually more hassle than it is worth even when they are available. The non Adv are squishy, which is usually perfect for the other 99% of drivers.

Good post. Shocks are very personal and the experiences vary greatly.

Anyone running the Rancho adjustable shocks? I have a hard time finding the correct settings. I feel like the rear rides terrible.
