Hi all,

Did the leveling lift, anyone know where to get extended length bump stops? The scumbags at Trail Duty took my money 3 weeks ago, never responded, or shipped my item. AVOID THIS COMPANY.

Only place I knew of was trail duty and Phil was great to work with. Not even sure if Phil still owns the place but surprised to hear.

Wow. I have bought quite a bit from Trail Duty and never had an issue. Wonder what is up.

I may have my extended ones available. I'm installing a Rancho and need regular stops.

I got my Bilsteins and extended bump stops from Trail Duty too and they were fantastic on getting my shipment out to me early when I requested. Definitely would shop there again

I have a pair of the extended bump stops from trail duty that I no longer use. PM me and we can work out details if you want them and I'll send photos.

Ordered a pair of extended bump stops from Trail Duty 12/10/16. Received notification from customer service 12/19/16 that they were having several problems getting this item back in stock, but were working to resolve it as soon as possible, would keep me updated on progress, and apologized for the delay. If I'm not mistaken, these are actually manufactured in Australia. Received notice 1/24/17 that they were expecting a shipment within 2 weeks, and would ship my order asap. Still haven't received my order, however i trust it'll be sent in the near future.

UPDATE: Received notice from Trail Duty CustomerService today (2/14) that they received the bump stops and are shipping my order today. Tracking number also provided.

Why does everyone want bump stops? I've never understood why, I think the ride is night and day better not sitting on the bump stops at ride height.

Brake slower, then you won't get the nose dive. Honestly the nose dive is not much worse than any other vehicle I have driven. The only vehicles that aren't going to dive a lot are sports cars with really stiff suspension, and even then they will dive if you brake hard enough.

Why not? Personal preference I guess. I prefered the longer stops with minimal nose dive. Normal driving is not affected so it basically is how much nose dive do you like.

Schwarttzy, The reason I'm looking to add the trail duty extended bump stops is that I recently purchased a H3T Alpha. The previous owner installed a Tough Country 4" Lift. Don't think there were many of them made, and spare parts for the lift are non existent. The Tough Country 4" lift kit came with extended bump stops of their own, but they were long and skinny, and I read complaints of them popping out. When I bought the truck, the front driver's side bump stop was missing. In my situation, since the truck has a 4" lift, the trail duty extended stops won't actually be resting on the arm at ride height, but would prevent the arm from slamming down into metal, and would be less nose dive than if i were to use the stock bump stops. The Trail Duty bump stops also look like they'd stay put better than the Tough Country stops, and they're available, maybe. If my logic is flawed, I'm open to constructive feedback, as I am a newbe, and respect the experience of other members on this site. Thoughts?

Run stock bumps with extensions (similar to the Rancho kit). Probably have to fab your own...or go for hydraulic bumps.

Long term goal is Light Racing's Jounce kit (front end), but they exceed my current budget. Appreciate the idea on stock bump stop with bracket extensions, hadn't thought about that. Might end up going that route.

That is why it does NOT sit on the front progressive spring stops at ride height when fresh from the factory.

The Rancho bump extension brackets leave a lot to be desired. The concept is okay but, the brackets themselves are iffy. They are made to be "bolt-on" and this includes drilling and installing a cross bolt as well as using a special nut welded to a long piece of metal so you can get another bolt installed. When you finally get them installed...they sit at a rather obtuse angle to the control arms (IMO).
I think welded-on extensions would work much better. You would need to gently cut the factory bump stop cups off the frame, and re-weld them on to some 2" x .250" wall tube extensions, approx 4" long. This would also give you the opportunity to correct the angle so they contact the LCAs properly. One of several minor tweaks that the Rancho kit needs to take it to the next level.

Exactly. Thanks Hunner, I could not find a clear picture of what I was talking about. I always thought the Rancho extensions look goofy...like the bump is tilted in the wrong direction. Look closely and you see the stock bumpstop mounting cup hidden inside the new extension. I think you could cut that loose with a saw-zall and make some custom extended bumps out of 2" tube. Then you could correct the goofy angle and position them to contact the LCA at the proper angle. Pic is worth a thousand words.
