Hey david,
The shocks arent the issue. The leaf springs are too soft and cant handle the weight. For years people have been fixing the issue with shackles or air bags to assist the weak leaf springs. I wanted to get a spring pack designed so for the people who are afraid to do a radical change like a spring over, where fab is required, a simple swap of leaf springs can give the added height needed. I thought it was a great idea, so bebe recommended deaver spring. They have been a big name in the off road racing industry for years and are just an hour or so away from me. After they designed the springs I was happy as I got the added height I needed the correct way but deaver uses thin leaves instead of thick. Mine is a 10 leaf pack where ranchos is 4-6. I lost a ton of clearance under the axle...Even though I did my research I missed that part :gaah:With the help of tim we contacted rancho and told them about the issue of the sagging springs and how it has been happening for years. I truly dont get it though, how does a big name company not see the feedback of their product. Anyways, they have now agreed to make a new spring pack that will now allow the correct height needed, which is great, tuff country still uses their original design to my knowledge. I may go that route or just go with a spring over. the deavers are great for prerunning, comfort and all sorts of 4 wheeling excluding rocks. They will just hang up with being about 3 inches thick vs the ranchos at 1.5in thick. I love rock crawling so a spring over may suit me best. My only concern is that I am not capable of doing a spring over. I can weld but the geometry of it and the question of are my welds strong enough compared to a guy like speedy who did bebes Spring over, Hes an experienced guy whos been welding for years and I am just a newbie.
thats the long repsonse but the springs will not hold. If you go rancho make sure to get the new design springs! A shop who has them in stock probably has the older set. If you order direct from tim or rancho you will get the new ones...
