H3 Traction Failed Service Traction Control System...ABS Fault

Codes and messaged disappeared after doing some maintenance. see here, Running hot solution test. Had the battery out for several hours, cleaned up a ground and put in a 1 year old 700 CCA AGM battery. Just to see if the battery was an issue. Starts slightly better than the 1000 CCA flooded...

    08 Alpha. Why so hot???!!!

Okay, so we shoehorned in a 16" electric fan, well sort of. It's jammed in on the passenger side of the of the cavity but not up against the evaporator core. It's more toward the front up against the grill, 6ish inches away from the evap core. Just on a switch with a 15amp fuse in line off...

    08 Alpha. Why so hot???!!!

Also.... Any ideas on the best place to jumper in a 16" electric pusher fan. Mostly as a temporary test to give it a bit more air, but I'd rather not burn the truck down in the process. I already have the old light bar switch and wiring I may use, but I'd feel better coming off a relay...

H3 Traction Failed Service Traction Control System...ABS Fault

I'm going to disconnect the battery too, and see if they reset. Battery is a crappy walmart one that struggles to crank. It has taken on quite a bit of water over the past couple of years with various sunroof drain leaks. So it could very well be a soaked yaw rate sensor. Time to start...

    08 Alpha. Why so hot???!!!

Thanks alrock! I'll check that stuff. I was going to get a severe duty Hayden Fan clutch just in case. Ran one in the hot months for years in my 3/4 ton 8.1 L Suburban. It downright roared because it moved so much air.

H3 Traction Failed Service Traction Control System...ABS Fault

Traction Failed Service Traction Control System...ABS Fault messages plus CEL and ABS lights on. Scan tool shows the following 6 codes. Not sure why the 3 just repeat but is specifically listed them as 1-6 of 6 codes. C0186 Lateral Accelerometer Circuit Malfunction C0196 Yaw Rate Circuit...

    08 Alpha. Why so hot???!!!

Okay, so at 106 F ambient, probably 110ish in the O'Rileys parking lot idling with the AC blasting the scan tool showed 232 F with a few extra RPMs dropping to 230 quickly. Temp gauge showed a hair over 3/4. So technically not over heating, but way too darn hot for my taste. AC labored a bit...

    08 Alpha. Why so hot???!!!

Well, that all makes me feel better, but it just still feels like it runs so damn hot.

    08 Alpha. Why so hot???!!!

It runs like this most of the time unless it's on the highway. Then it drops to just below 5/8th. I know these Alphas are known to run hot, but this is crazy. Is this normal at 100 degrees outside? Floors radiate massive heat as well. I'm looking at a severe duty fan clutch, and just...

    UGGGHHH!!! Still front end knocking!!!!

Thanks for the tip. However ... 4speedfunk's transfer case adapter arrived last week. Why is it so satisfying to hold a well machined piece of metal??? It looks great, now to get the drive shaft guy lined up and order the rest of the parts. I'm done half a$$ing things with aftermarket junk...

AC broken just in time for a trip

Got mine back, $1850ish with a $400 detail. AC blows nice and cold, it looks great, and no longer has an odor of mildew from the leaking sunroof. Hate spending the money, but sometimes my time with the family has to take priority. and yes, he said the compressor was dying and contaminating...

    H3 Windshield Replacement Suggestions

In AZ we go through a lot of windshields. Aftermarket are typically softer glass than factory in my estimation. They get pitted and sand painted in 1/3 the miles of factory glass. IMHO, Matt

AC broken just in time for a trip

Yep, kinda why I didn't balk at my guy's estimate. Just need it to work! He's installing a full kit, so pretty much an entirely new system. Hopefully I can get with Reloader and copy his dual factory electric fan setup in the near future. It's needed in Phoenix! Later, Matt

AC broken just in time for a trip

Shop called, slightly overcharged on freon, but not enough to matter. Contaminated system due to a dying compressor and the OT plugging intermittently. That and pulling the headliner to figure out our water leak. $1450. Ouch! I admire you tackling the AC system yourself! Later, Matt

    UGGGHHH!!! Still front end knocking!!!!

I'm guessing aftermarket. I'm getting an adapter from 4speedfunk/THORPARTS and going with the double cardan spicer build he specified. Done half a$$ing this repair!!! Later, Matt

    UGGGHHH!!! Still front end knocking!!!!

Gotta love a 1 week old front driveshaft grinding to death on I-40 in BFE New Mexico!!! Limped it to Edgewood, NM. 4 high lock, dropped the front driveshaft, bone dry and damn near on fire it was so hot. Pissed!!! 7+ hours from home. Glad I read about the 4 high lock trick. Home safe and...

AC broken just in time for a trip

LOL, Just drove my oldest son's H3 Alpha form Kansas to Phoenix. AC was on the struggle bus across SW Kansas, OK, TX, and NM. Topped it off with cheapo can and that helped, but at 110 out it didn't matter much! Now its in Phoenix, headed to my buddy's shop tomorrow for sunroof drains fixed...
