Got to love this, what a dam good idea!

The Israelis are developing an airport security device that eliminates the privacy concerns that come with full-body scanners. It's an armored booth you step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device or ammo that you may have on your person or in your carry-ons. No more need to remove your coat, shoes, belt or take-out your laptop.

Israel sees this as a win-win situation for everyone, with none of this crap about racial profiling or invasion of privacy concerns. It will also eliminate the costs of long and expensive trials. You're in the airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion. Shortly thereafter, an announcement: "Attention to all standby passengers, we now have a seat available on flight 670 to London. Shalom!"

I never understood the idea of racial profiling. I do understand universal profiling. Everyone gets the same treatment.:wink:

Racial profiling is a legitimate action. It just has to be applied correctly.
If the police set up roadblocks looking for five black escapes from prison, they don't need to check white, Asian people. If five white guys escape from prison, not need to stop black people. (Unless searching the vehicle.)

However, pulling over a black guy in a white subdivision for no reason other than he is black is not cool.

Searching 65 year old white women or five year old kids in an airport, while completely disregarding 30 year old Arab looking dudes, just because someone says it is not politically correct; is stupid.

Arguably, in the examples you mention Doug, I'd argue is not racial profiling. If the police gets a description of a suspect and the description is of a 30-ish white male with red hair, well... then they have to look for 30-ish white males with red hair.... -Nothing racial about that in my opinion.

Airports and airline security is a different matter to me.
