Thought I should introduce myself as a new member. I have owned more Jeeps than I can count, and still have a few rusting peacefully in the field. Most recently I had a 04 Jeep Liberty and a 2010 Unlimited Rubicon. I was left greatly disappointed in the Rubicon's all around performance (granted, it had 35" BFG KM2's and the stock 4.10 gears) and decided to find something with better options from the factory for a daily driver. I just picked up a 2008 H3 Alpha and I have to say it's a great step up from my Heeps. Already cranked the torsion bars up a little to level it out, replaced the air filter with a drop in AEM (cheap upgrade until I decide on a snorkel or cold air kit), and replaced the front brakes. Came with a decent set of 265/75/16 Toyo MT's on the stock rims that I plan to wear out and then step up to 35's - maybe an alternate set of 33's for daily duties. Plan to pick up some rear shackles, UCP, rock rails, de-chrome, shocks, and whatever else will improve the off road-ability while not sacrificing too much of the on-road capabilities I need for daily driving.

Rancho plus spring-over axle is the ultimate combo for the rigs, did you get an adventure model? (Rear locker). The rancho rides just as well as stock if not better and my mileage stayed the same. Performance mods are exhaust, air doc intake, and a tune. You can also upgrade to 4.56 gears or get a supercharger. Welcome to the forum!

Welcome. A lot of us used to be Jeep owners, myself included. My reasons for switching to a Hummer was similar to yours, wanting great off-road ability stock in something that I'd actually like to DD. Sounds like you didn't get an off-road model (rear locker), but throw on a set of 35s and you should be doing great anyway. Traction control isn't as good as lockers, but when you learn how to let it do it's job you'll find the H3 quite capable.

I could not find an alpha with the adventure package (I was lucky to find one at all!) So I'll have to track down an E locker myself. Thanks for the suggestions!

That's how I ended up in an H2. Looking for an H3 Alpha w/lockers to replace my H3T - finally gave up and long story short I'm in an H2. No worries, I quite like my H2.
