How To Program A Key Fob For Hummer H3 & H3T (Using GM Tech 2 & Autel Scanners)

How to program a new key fob on a Hummer H3 (and H3T). This guide also applies to Chevy Colorado models from the same era that use the same scan tool programming process. Programming the key fob itself is quick, but there are details you need to know ahead of time depending on your situation, so I cover the important stuff first and then walk through the step-by-step.

2004-2012 GMC Canyon W/ Factory Keyless Entry RPO Code AU0

In this video, I demonstrate programming using both:
- GM Tech 2 (factory dealer-level scan tool)
- Android-based scan tool like Autel (example shown: iCarsoft CR Legend, but many bidirectional scanners with BCM “special functions” can work)

Important notes:
* H3 and Colorado do NOT have a self-programming “button sequence” method. A scan tool is required.
* Every time you program remotes, you must program ALL remotes in the same session (up to 4). Any fob not programmed during the session will stop working
* If your current fob still works but the case is worn out, you may only need a plastic shell replacement (no reprogramming).
* If you have zero key fobs right now, that’s fine. The programming process is the same.

10335583 – U.S. / Canada (FCC ID: L2C0007T)
15845916 – Europe / Australia / New Zealand (export)
15845917 – Japan (export)

Battery type: CR2032
Keyless entry uses rolling code technology (fob and BCM sync automatically when used in range)

I also show how to set your preferred lock/unlock feedback mode using the Gauge Cluster:
RKE Feedback Settings
* RFA 1: Lights flash on lock/unlock (default)
* RFA 2: Horn + lights on lock, lights on unlock
* RFA 3: Horn + lights on lock and unlock
* RFA 4: No feedback

Great job. What I like is all the detail you crammed in & shared. Very comprehensive! I learned a few things. There's a guy at a swap meet who sells a ton of fobs for $5ea. I've gotten a few from him. I use a S-O scanner ...pretty much similar process.

Thanks so much! I had known how to do this for quite a while now, but I wanted to put in some more research to make sure I had all details right for all the other vehicles. Yep you can basically program key fobs on any higher-end scanner. I just wish GM made it where you could self-program keys without having to use a scanner, like they did on a lot of other vehicles of that era, like the GMT-800 platform. The H3 and Colorado guys never get any of the good stuff 😅

I'm actually fighting with my Keyless antenna/TPMS antenna ... No way to get my alarm on again. New battery on Fobs, did open the BCM, cleaned everything on the antenna mount and checked for bad contact....put the antenna higher with added cable on it to the passenger side near the loudspeaker of the A pilar ...nothing ....
