I'll be calling various body shops, dealerships, and my mechanic on monday. To look for one of these.

Derian, sorry about your truck man.
That is an EPIC suk. However, **** happens and ya gotta deal with it.
Good luck with the resto-build.......you will most likely need it.
As for this thread, I think it is about time to just drop it and concentrate on and constructively contribute, to the young man's build thread.
It is absolutely no one's ****ing business where the kid's money comes from or what he does with said funds.
(as long as he aint pimping out his little sister, running a preschool drug ring or putting on donkey shows, I could not care less)
Although it does not seem the reasonable course of action to some, he appears to be determined to salvage his truck.
How many times have we all seen someone spend big bucks to resurrect a POS / Lost cause vehicle and end up with their dream ride.
I suspect there is more to this than simple economics.
Derian, if you wish (since it is YOUR thread in the first place) I can lock it down to prevent further posts.
Will not remove it, as that would negate/devalue folks input.....but locking it would stop further beating of the proverbial dead horse.
I have to say, I probably would too, as my T completes me!I would definitely spend $10k+ to resurrect my vehicle if that happened to me. Good luck on the build
Finding a used 2014 drivetrain will be tough. Not to mention most wrecking yards cut the harnesses when pulling them out. You would also have to replace the whole electrical system. Then there is the programming issue. The new trucks are not programmed with a tech 2 anymore. Updates are done online and would have to go to a dealer. I would rule this option out. There are performance motors that come with wiring and electronics. And you can buy a trans to match. They are expensive though.
If I were to do this I would get it new straight from a dealership. I'd have to see what my 5.3 guy thinks about the wiring and electronics because he does his own. What about the transmission is it suitable to handle it? I know I would have to change things to it like the bellhousing. But would a completely different one have to be installed?

Sorry but I don't believe that you can buy a brand new 5.3l ecotec from gm and your total after everything is fixed is under 10k. I'm not saying it's impossible.. I'm just saying that it's highly unlikely and that you should go another route. It's a good idea though.. but to stick to your budget.. probably not gonna happen. Just my .02 cents.
But if you can show me the numbers I'd be glad to look.
I tell you what I would do if this happen to me. 2001 2500 24V Ram extended cab wheel base is 136" and H3T is 134", the goal is to body swap extend hood and fenders and add a 1" body lift to clear the tranny. Donor truck with 130,XXX miles out in UT goes for 8-10K sell the everything but the frame and driver train make maybe 6K back. Keep the hummer fuse block for the BCM and stick the ram cluster in. Time consuming yes, project cost after everything high teens, and is it worth it? To me yes so maybe look into a silverado for a body swap? Don't mind me the pain meds are REALLY kicking in.

You would have to run all the ford electronics and modules. Might even through off the tcase and abs systems
Why ford when this is a GMC?

though it is an option to simply buy a LS3 crate motor from GM - it's basically plug and play, however, the motor alone costs more than your budget.
