i say stick with mash motors, you get better engine and transmission with 0 miles and the same price, plus your truck wasnt in the water that long, ive never seen stuff corrode even in ocean water when in just a short time. if i had to put my money on it i would say the electrical problems after you replace all that other stuff will be small chance and it may just be one or two little things. its 100% up to you because its YOUR money and i'm not gonna tell you how to spend it but i would go mash motors!!! lol i'm kinda going against the grain from everyone else on this one with you!! but i would talk to mash motors more and see what there recommendation is.

On a side note, how can I go about removing the tail light guards, the airdoc, my tail lights, and my tires...? I understand the airdoc and the tail lights. But what if I swapped out the tires and took off the tail light guards before the gave me an estimate?

Also on the electrical gremlin thing, I had a 1993 gmc step side pickup, that the interior caught on fire due to some electrical short inside the cab. It happened almost a year after I got it stuck pretty bad. I didn't submerge it like yours, but did get some water on the floor boards. Truck was pulled out the water within a couple hours of getting stuck. Cleaned her all up and I thought she was good as new, no bad smell everything working running great. Several months later I was in the parking lot of my work. I went to leave for lunch, hit the door unlock and nothing, no sounds. The windows were darkly tinted so I could not see inside. I opened the door with the key to find the entire interior burned and melted. Once fresh air entered the cab from me opening the door it started to smolder again so I slammed the door and called the fire department. After a good long laugh on their part they told me the fire was out, but had a hard time determining the source. The truck sat in the parking lot at my work for a week until I figured out what to do. I didn't owe anything on the truck and at the time I really wanted to keep it. Friends told me not to try to re-wire everything because of all the unknowns. So I called the insurance and they totaled it, but I got $3000 more that I thought the trucks was worth. My gmc dealer did a complete investigation of the fire to try and determine the source and the best they could determine was that several of the wires showed signs of corrosion and melted the insulation of the wires under load and that started a short which started the fire and cause the rest of the damage. Gmc set me up with a new truck for well under invoice, I think primarily to keep me in the brand, suspecting if might buy something else considering what happened. The point is, I would have never imagined a wire corroding inside the insulation, but it did and I was fortunate it did not happen while I was in the truck.

I am glad to see you seriously considering other options, engine issue aside, I would be more concerned about the electrical issues as they are much harder to diagnose, trouble shoot and repair. Trust me, my family has been in telecommunications since the 30s and I have seen many issues first hand, moisture reeks havoc on electrical components. If the connections are not protected/sealed with jelly, moisture will find a way to get in and yes copper does corrode. What do you think that green patina is on copper, imagine that on a thin braided/stranded cable.

If you were my son and wanted to know the effects of water and dead shorts in the electrical system. I would have him lick the top of a brand new 9v battery. That feeling you get is the same thing that could happen with your trucks system, except at 12v and a lot more current. This is not ment as a joke, just a science project that may help you under stand basic electricity.

Nice but you can do better, stick a screwdriver in a spark plug cable then have him hold it or lick it as you rev the engine. Wow the mortar did a number on me lol.

I'm not made out of metal... And i understood that, I had a specific question on it. My question was if no water was present in plugs, and I replaced all main circuits what is there to corrode?

What I do know is, i'm done posting to this forum until all is said and done. All abusive comments are unessasry. The stress from all of that is not worth the information provided. When i'm done or when I have a new hummer i'll be back. To SolidusJ and woodtick, most of your comments were completely unessasary. This really isn't a joke to me, I have my life savings on the line and I lost my most prized possesion. If you aren't here to help me, then why are you here.

I'll be back when this is all said and done. To everyone that helped me i'd like to thank you very much. Really, yall keep me sane through this.

I'm paying for all of it, if I wasn't I'd be doing the same.

I know what it's like to be young and do dumb ****. I'm just saying if I paid for it or not id still get an ass kicking. Either way we all have been young and dumb. It's just most of the forums members dumb moments were a while back and view things differently then they do now.

I'm am 17 and as my dad calls it I'm going though my "dumbass" faze like all teenagers go through. I am extremely blessed with my parents that I have and to be driving an H3. And I'll be the first to tell you that if this happened to me I would be driving a pos corolla after. Count your blessings.

These guys on this forum may come off a little strong at times but in the end they are trying to help you. Whether it be giving you advice or making smartass comments. They are all here to help.

I'm not going to tell how to spend your money but I will offer you two pieces of advice. First let your parents read through these threads. They may change their minds about certain things that in the end may help you. Second, ride with you friends. It keeps miles off your truck and saves you gas money.

I hope the best for you and your situation.

You and I both know that is completely false. I have never, taken someones opinion, and thrown it out the door. I just don't understand what could drive someone to be such a dick. There is just literally no other word to describe it. I have no idea who you are or what you have against me. But it's obvious you're not a day older then 30. Any adult would not act in such a way. Your vocabulary is obviously not at a high standard, so i'm guessing you're an un-educated meathead who compensates for it by always trying to be in control and always trying to be the alpha male.

Did that hit a weak spot? I'm guessing you're going to continue to be all big and bad over a computer screen. But at the end of the day you're a nobody who is doing nothing special in their life so get over your self. Please tell me one thing that makes you a better man then anyone else on here and that gives you the right to act the way you do.

Jay has earned his stripes...literally. Different people communicate differently. Don't take any of this personally, it isn't meant that way. You asked for opinions and you got them, a lot of them and many are different. Now take the info, sift through it and figure out how to use it to your advantage.
