Carnage looks to have been pretty light in this trip. You guys that careful or just lucky?

I will say the carnage was small, one tie rod, one rack and pinion, and one half shaft. This is a good group of spotters and they gave fair warnings about possible breakage before letting you try it. If you ran into problems and couldn't make it they would offer a strap to prevent tearing stuff up. I took a strap on one hill. I skipped a few obstacles that needed a better prepared rig. If I had lockers and the 4 to 1 I would of tried hells gate and escalator. But there's always next time.

Most of the rigs which come regularly are pretty well prepared. Anyone can break but good prep limits the damage. This was also a good group that followed the spotters and that usually helps a lot.

Hey guys made it back safe and sound, was pretty slow going up and over Vail pass but nothing broke any more then it already was. Thanks for the great trip, hopefully will see you all again in October!

But in the meantime, can't wait to see those pictures!!

As jakes said, carnage wasn't bad. We actually had more of it than usual, but it was also lighter stuff that was usually fixed on the trail. In addition to what was listed above, TX Mike broke the track bar on his JK as well. I think I dented the heck out of my gas tank. Serge split a wheel into two. Some non-OEM "unbendable" UCP got pretty bent:

Many thanks to all that came from distances near and far. In addition to those that have already been thanked with the awards, we need to give props/thanks to Dwaine for all of the trail work he did - recovering Reloader, assistance in repairing Reloader's rack, welding Mike's trackbar . . . Dwaine was everywhere at once with tools in hand or advice at the ready.

That under carriage protection looks familiar. I guess it was tested and did was it was suppose too. The front piece I will likely build something that is more like a skid plate and is reinforced. Hopefully to survive a few more hits.

Great Pics, All! Thanks for a great time and a HUGE thanks to HIROLA for selling me his spare CV axle as well as BigUnit and everyone else that pitched in for the under 1 hour CV axle swap after I snapped my front left that was just replaced in December, '12. I guess they call it 'Wipeout Hill' for a reason ...

On a more positive note, the six foot ledge on steel bender bent my exhaust pipes back INTO place. The left was hanging about 1/2" lower than the right from a Marble Falls trip. Aptly named, steel bender put it right back where it belongs!

We're back in TX, looking forward to the next trip!

. . . will follow up with how my local shop handles the 18 month warranty on the CV axle which snapped like a twig after only 3k miles.

That looks familiar to me. I have the oem ucp and have managed to bend it up, not as bad as that, but close. I did it in the same manner, coming down a rock ledge and landing on the shelf with the ucp. Still looking for a better ucp.

That video doesn't do justice. I've been trying to describe that obstacle to people here since I got back ...

Just talked to the mechanic. The CV axle I snapped like a twig on Wipeout Hill is being replaced tomorrow with a new one under warranty. :cheers:
