John it will be great to see you again.
Alex, Add me to the maybe list. I would say 50/50 at this point. I can't let Reloader be the only Wisconsin representation.

I have brand new tires and a new transmission in. I hope to come and just need to see if anything comes up at work that week. It will likely be just myself again this year. Sat to Sat. Not sure where I am going to stay or camp yet. Based on how the week goes I am game for taking a couple days and doing a longer expedition even one that requires a camp on the trail. Just a thought.

Thanks

Chastan

Whew, got some good prep on the trucks today with Jerry S. and Reloader.

Reloader's got the hoist installed in his garage so we were ready to christen the floor with power steering fluid, engine oil and grease. Jerry's rack was well worn out at the inner tie rods with lots of slop. Reloader and Jerry swapped out the rack for a new unit and of course we put on the Scorpworks/Preferred Chassis Fabrication Steering Rack Bracket (Friends don't let friends replace racks without this important upgrade!) Jerry's truck went from having as much steering accuracy as a Deadliest Catch fishing boat to something that felt race car sharp in comparison.

Jerry finally got some OEM UCP installed. I was surprised that it lined right up even though he's wheeled the truck for over six years. Those crossmembers can take a beating.

However, we also figured out we need to replace the right side upper control arm, diff bracket, CV axle, axle seal and lower ball joint. That appears like it will be next week's project.

On my truck we changed the oil and Reloader cleaned up my rear driver's caliper. It keeps sticking. One shop lubed it but Reloader took it apart, cleaned it with a wire brush bit and greased it up. Working much, much better now. Also put a bit of tubing as insulation on the transmission cooler lines where they were rubbing other components on the truck.

Which would you want to install on your truck?

On Reloader's truck, well, we just used that to get beer and a bite to eat when we were finished.

We're coming to town & for the first time not sleeping at the compound... going to hit the lazy lizard this time. We decided life is a lot easier if we keep Tucker warm... thinking this fall, next spring, then we won't have to run the truck all night to keep him warm after that!

Stoked to see it's just a few blocks away!

We'll be there from the 4th to the 7th, bringing both dirtbikes... one IN the jeep and on on the back!

Excited to see everybody!!

Drove the truck around yesterday and today to see if anything needed attention before Moab, since Saturday is my last chance to fix anything. Well, it appears that (hopefully) the tensioner pulley is bad. I have a sound from that area that sounds like bad ball bearings. Could be something else but I hope not. Looks like a new tensioner tomorrow, and for the sake of it a new belt and new idler pulley as well. Thankfully O'Reilly has the Gates products in stock, though I'll have to hit two different stores to get all three parts.

Well I really thought I could pull this Moab week off but it looks like now I can't get away. Darn it all, I needed some time off and I believe I had the "traveled the longest distance" prize in my hands..... so close....

I hope it is a good week. PCH2 you will have to represent the H2's this time around. Just follow the H1's into anything, you can always be winched out/off/over or through...

Steve sorry I can't bring you any WI goodies but you havn't been out in AZ long enough to really miss anything yet. Next October that spotted cow will taste even better.

I will be living vicariously through your pictures so post them up good. Hope to see you all next year.

Another full day of Moab prep at the Reloader Garage.

Completed tasks:
Zerk fittings on Reloader's and my upper control arm ball joints
New serpentine belt, idler pulley and tensioner (tensioner pulley was failing) on my truck
Resurfaced rear rotors on my truck, along with cleaned and adjusted parking brakes
Finally got that last bolt fully seated on my sliders (only took six years)
New tie rod end boot

On Jerry's truck:
New upper control arm
New lower ball joint
New CV axle
New diff mount
New axle seal
New power steering cap

All of Jerry's work took less than 2.5 hours with Steve at the helm.

I take credit for the power steering cap installation. Steve did just about everything else.

Nice job Alex, power steering can be tough to install. Noticed the pic was taken by you. Must have been Jerry and Steve in the pic, as they are tall. Lol. And Steve nice box and live the fact you have the lift already. Might be worth the drive to drop my truck off to you

Sunday run - what about Top of the World, have any/many of you done that trail? It would be a bit more interesting than Copper Ridge with much better route finding.

And this Monday-Thursday - longest four days of work ever! :gaah:
