We will see how you do on the rest of the run. Personally, I think you will do just fine. Do remember that there is no shame in taking bypasses. we will never ridicule you in any way. We all have different skill levels.

I figure I'll def have you guys direct me esp since it'll be my first time really wheeling the 3(not a fire road lol). As for bypasses I have no shame since I'll have to drive home

Medic, so if you go to Moab in 2 weeks you should be back before your wife is due. There have been several Moab attendees who have shown up right before their offsprings due date. :D

Haha I saw that video on YouTube lol. Oops :) I wish the Boss Lady aka the Mrs would "allow me" to hit up Moab in a few weeks but I've already got her blessing for April ;) just need to meet up w/ you guys and get "in wheeling shape" over a few of these runs

I might be able to make April.. depends on a few factors... I just got back from the THCI moab/durango event, but I really can't do these 2 week off road trips, one week trips are more plausible in the future.

How was the THCI event?

It was fun, I didn't go to all the runs, I took a day off in Durango and another in Moab.

Did Grim Reaper and Secret in New Mexico, and a few mountain trails in Ouray/Silverton area. In Moab I drove Golden Spike/Bar/Poison Spider mesa, then took it easy after that with a few scenic trails with small groups [4 trucks and 2 trucks], Klondike Bluffs and the Arches park and the Potash Road to Shafer Trail, then ran to Vegas to catch the Barrett Jackson auction.

Nice to meet a few AM General folks, who showed us pictures of the HUMVEE C series and answered [and not answer] a number of questions. Mike and Crew were busy working on H1's day in and day out, a lot more breakdowns than normal, some folks had breakdowns every day. One owner blew his 4L80E and was in the shop most of the run, he got trail time in with other owners and with us.

There was 30+ H1's, one HMMWV and 1 or 2 H3's and a H2.

I did ok, no breakdowns or damage, just a oil leak from a valve cover, nothing major. Almost lost my camera bag with $6,000 worth of gear on Klondike Bluff, left it on the truck while loading and it bounced off.

Fortunately a friend recorded video of us running obstacles, and we narrowed down the search to 1 mile on the 50 miles we ran, so 2 hours later we found my equipment unharmed about 30 feet from where we had lunch. That would have been an expensive trip, I normally carry camera insurance when I haul out the pro equipment, but this time I would have had to run it through my homeowners policy if I couldn't' find the equipment.

Now I'm getting an orange/yellow pelican case for the equipment instead of a black bag...

I'll post pictures in trail reports when I sort through them later this week.

I think a lot of people show up at events where THCI will have support with their trucks not totally trail ready. I think a lot of people figure AMG will have the parts and labor to take care of things. Sounded like a lot of repair work was done for a few days of wheeling. We have not experienced anything like that with our group but we have had repairs, including a couple of major ones. ( Tcase and a tranny ) The Tcase just reached the end of its natural life and the tranny we knew about before the trip started. One member( Bebe ) brought the tranny, I donated the tranny jack and everyone pitched in and we replaced the tranny on the truck so it wasn't really a trail casualty. Stuff happens. Instead of having AMG fix our trucks we take care of things ourselves. Hope you make the April trip.

I think the Black Sheep weeks, and 3Hummers in particular, have helped educate the H1 owners that come out regarding the extra maintenance required of a trail truck. Tie rods, pitman, idler, etc. seem to need more attention in a trail ready truck and that seems to be a weak knowledge point in some of the occasional wheeler owners. H2 and H3 owners of course have also benefited from the group knowledge too and tend to have their trucks in good shape for Black Sheep week. Heck, the wrenching days in Moab are kinda fun, though mostly because Green1 does the heavy lifting and I just make the BBQ and Milts runs :)
