Need new shocks , who likes what ?

So the Bilsteins 5160 front and rear are on back order still with no official release date. Fed up with waitin on Bilsteins so ordered the Rancho 9000XL with my Rancho Lift. Should be delivered to the shop that ordered it for me by this Friday. Can't install it until I get me wheels and tires. Anyone know if the Rancho would support 5.75 backspace on 20" wheels? If they do then I can use my current wheels for now.

I have to disagree. The Monroe shocks allow too much movement (especially after a 2" t-bar and shackles lift) and are softer than stock shocks. I have a video of me on Monroe's coming down a hill and swaying and bouncing everywhere while a buddy on stock shocks was much more controlled.

Isn't this because your out of the shocks normal ride height already?

The ride height doesn't matter, the only thing that using stock sized shocks on a cranked H3 is you limit the amount of down travel by a corresponding amount. As long as you're not bottoming out the shocks it doesn't matter where they ride in the stroke, it will dampen the same amount.

The lift put my COG a little higher than stock, that gives it a little extra body roll and top heaviness, but compared to the base and adventure shocks on my other H3's that are set up the same way, the Monroe Reflex wallow around like high mileage, worn out shocks. Damping is too soft, but some people like that I guess.

Funny you say that, because I ordered mine on Wednesday from summitracing and they're getting here tomorrow.
