New motor

Gonna be busy with work and school tomorrow Wednesday and Thursday. Gonna get the trans Thursday right before they close go down and work Thursday night on the hummer and Friday. Hoping to have everything bolted in by early next week so we can focus on hoses exhaust and the misc crap

Thanks Casey, I should of thought of that from the get go...Thats what I did for the SAS keeping my wheelbase in check and the wheels centered in the wheelwell.

So was there any "hammer-tuning" on the firewall, to clear the V8?

I'm sure you have noticed this but the passenger side frame cradle is 2" forward of the driver side cradle. If the bolt holes on the block are symmetrical, you should be able to tell the correct orientation of the mounts. Looks like it is sitting low, but maybe its just because there is no intake manifold on it yet.

Yea, I noticed the mount was 2in forward...why? I have no idea why GM did that lol.

As for firewall clearance I have not done anything yet. The motor is in slots in the motor mounts and my 5.3 has 3 sets of threaded holes. So I can have the motor more forward or back. I have it too far forward. Now I need to lift the motor up a tad move the motor back and get out the hammer. Looked online last night colorado guys say it needs to be super close to where u think it won't fit. I have enough room back there to stick my leg between the motor and firewall and the rad won't fit with the current setup so the fun festivities will continue

The oil pressure sending unit boss on the back of the motor ( valley cover ) is approx 1 1/2 inch's from the firewall on my Alpha if that helps.

man it's so hard to find an alpha with adventure package, it's almost worth it to just buy an I5 and swap in the engine you want.

Agree now days I seen some 3 go for as low as 8 grand...drop 10 G's in a new badass engine and you still left with money for some mods than trying to buy a alpha

I personally haven't seen them but I'm sure they might be I remember back in 2011 when I was shopping for my truck they were going for 10k from a private seller. But had like 90-100k miles. But yeah whenever panzer's heart stops pumping I'm upgrading to something good...hopefully it keeps kicking for another 50k miles...about 3-4 years the way i out miles at year...hopefully electric engines are more developed I'll love to have an electric H3 with enough torque to go wheeling. (No I don't care about the environment, I just think electric motors are cool)

I have been watching a company called EV West and they build some trick kits!

They are not out to save the world one EV at a time, they are building track and offroad cars powered by electricity because they can and its fun haha

Thought it would be cool to do an open hood hot rod, have all the EV equipment in the back truck and keep the engine bay 100% open... mess with people driving by lol

Camping and wheel far away from civilization you can bring gas not a charging station.

Either way my trans is done! Just got off work, have class now then I'll pick it up later today. 4l60e with upgrades for the torque converter, sun shell, clutches, servos swapped over tail housing and shaft and accumulator for the h3 trans pan to fit. Going to try to get the motor in its final home today and then tomorrow I don't have work and only one class so I will try to get the motor trans t case all back in its home by tomorrow. Then I can focus on intake, lines, hoses, exhaust Etc till the harness gets here. 16 days till Moab?

Yupe I seen some easily compact solar deployable system that can be packed and carried instead of 2 jerry gas cans. If you have a roof rack cover that thing with solar panels that way your batteries charge as you use them...got that idea from watching this guy turning his daughter powers heels into a self charging ride on while being used/ride on by tuber daughter as well provided the kid with some shade. Also if you get some of those foldable solar panels that's are pretty flexible and light weight you can easily stack them on top of each other I a roof rack and when ready to change or what not, have alternative legs bars and so you can deploy the other stacked panels in order to make one big ass panel. You could also add some magnets at the tire rotors that way by you get some magnetic energy going on while the car is in motion. The possibilities are endless all it takes some good amount of money and imagination and knowledge research lol.

I'll add my $0.02 on that; the OPS is easy as he!! to break. Be careful with the damn thing since it is in such a vulnerable spot.
