I can't wait to see how this turns out! I want to do the same thing with a 6.2 and a 6 speed trans. I bet a 6 speed will be a little longer though won't it?

I personally would like to do the V8 on mine, but keep the AR5 manual transmission. My biggest problem will be finding the engine computer programmed for the manual. I believe this combo only existed outside the US. As far as the tranny holding up, I have friends running the same trans in Sky/Solstice pushing over 400HP. It should hold up to a V8 just fine.

I wish there was a decent 6 speed available for a swap. There's the ZF6 out of the HD trucks, but it's massive. I have thought about that, though. would be cool.

swap into an avalanche:

back when I was more into manual trannies, i used to drool over that thread pretty regularly. since I put a 5 speed into my old cherokee I like autos for offroading better so I'm not considering it anymore.

Another day to a close, mainly because I ran out of stuff to do. I didnt have the harness so that prevented me from continuing and I didnt have my fuel lines. What I did do was the following:
Install A/C condenser and radiator which I cleaned throughly before I put it in. They were caked in dirt and crap.
Did my heater hoses
Got the some of the intake in. Need to pull holesaw a bigger hole in the inner fender for the new one to fit.
got one PS line done
transmission lines done
Rear driveshaft back in

Not too much to get pictures of...

On the heater hoses, I just used basic rubber hose to from the motor to the firewall. The stock style uses clips but if you pop the clips off there is a flare for the rubber hose to go over, simple and done.

On the Power steering lines, I already had them made for the steering box I am running on my SAS. The PS pump and box were on opposite sides making the lines very long, roughly 56in. So the return line has no pressure and is a slip on hose at the pump so I just cut it and shortened it, that was easy.

Tomorrow I will use the old 56in line have them cut it in half add the appropriate JIC fittings and then have a new shorter line and a spare line for a very low cost!

Fuel lines I am not set on and would like some opinions. Seeing the stainless lines are a PITA to bend and are a bit too long I thought I would cut the ends off the stainless lines, flare the side I cut then run fuel injection hose and clamps. So it would be stainless, rubber, stainless or try and get OEM Alpha stainless lines. Whats your thoughts?

Other then that I still have the fuel lines to finish, holesaw the inner fender to accept the new intake inlet tube, install the harness (got that today!) exhaust, A/C lines, install front driveshaft, I still have a ton to do but I knocked a ton off the list!

Tomorrows goals:
Start installing harness, install other Power steering line, and revalve my shocks.

My buddy's friend works at swayaway and revalves shocks...I did my first shock revalve the other day, he recharged it for me and it works! I just revalved it in the opposite direction. I made them softer not stiffer :shame:but for my first time, by myself with no real guidance I pulled apart the entire shock revalved it threw it back together and it was all done right except the valving. Its crazy you can remove one shim (which is a fraction of an inch thick) and will change the entire way the shock acts so I need to get the practice on what does what in shims.

How have you been? Seeing your at high altitude and I remember your I5 was dying slowly, I think this is totally doable for you. This should waken things up a ton!

done with school for the day and I get off work at 730.

Going back tonight to do fuel lines, got my high pressure Power steering line done so I will add that. Have the harness with me and will start wiring that up.

This morning I got up early, helped my brother fix his rock lights, I went to gorman last weekend for a quick shakedown on the jeep. Found out his rear coil springs will unseat when fully drooped out, they they unseated and started to fall out it ripped his rock light wire. Fixed that, got his rear rigid back up lights working. Gotta make coil spring retainers before moab which is easy. 1.5in tubing welded to the coil bucket up top and small flat plate retaining the bottom. Other then the coil retainers he needs to do an oil change and we gotta put on his new brakes. He got black magic rotors and pads, supposedly these help A LOT in the braking department and JK brakes are marginal at best IMO and throw 37s on them it only gets worse in my experience our H3 brakes are far superior to his but these new brakes should help. He wants good brakes for decending the trails of moab but his rubicrawler gives him 7.4:1 double low range so braking isnt almost necessary

O and we need to pack! Atleast the JK should be ready.

also needed fuel injection line, the guys at orielly got me carb line which cant handle the pressure. They should have gotten the right stuff yesterday.

By the end of today all lines and hoses should be done, harness should be started, friday that will leave us with wiring, exhaust if the fuel lines ordered are ****ed up again we will need another reorder and do that friday.

Yes, now that the motor is in you are almost halfway done. Now you are down to making all the little details fit. Rounding up all the right stuff can be frustrating and time consuming. Especially waiting for shipments.

All hoses minus the a/c are done.
Intake done which required cutting.. The Inlet is bigger for the alpha.
Also finished cooling with fan clutch and fan and hoses
Fuel lines: have the hard lines routed but orielly messed up in the order again! I need fuel injection line for my soft line portion not carb line or vapor line. They said they will get the right line in by 6.

Here's what's left till first start up.
Fill up all fluids
Fuel lines
Harness
Exhaust
I'll then bring it 1/4 mile down the road for a/c lines of course I'd things work lol

Also picked up 2 pusher fans in front of the rad to help with cooling

So true.
Then returning them.
Then re-ordering something different.
Then modifying them.
Then realizing they still won't work.
Then realizing you can't return them because you chopped them up.
Then trying something totally different.
Repeat as necessary.

Soldier on! Looks great so far.

Orielly ordered the wrong fuel injection hose for the 3rd time! When it says in green letters on the hose not for fuel injection you would think they would say hmmm this isn't it. Anyways wiring harness is 95% done. A/C sensor is wrong but other then that it's almost done. Hard stainless Fuel lines are all lined up awaiting the fuel injection hose and flaring tool gonna work on in all day tomorrow till work in the late afternoon. Hoping to turn the key tomorrow
