I finally decided to take out the old radio and put in another "more up to date" radio. The old one had a volume control that would go up but not down. It got a bit LOUD in there. Other problems like FM stations not changing, yada, yada.
I thought I'd change it out but didn't feel much like doing it myself yesterday so I brought it to the local Car Audio place. A good place that was highly recommended by many. Besides, I was sick (said with a wimper). They had a pretty good JVC that has all kinds of bells and whistles.
Anyway, the reason for this posting is to understand how much of a hassle is it to replace a radio. The guy said he would take about 30 min in and out the door. It took him over 4.5 hours! Three hours just to get it out! He had my dash all apart! Gauges all hanging out! Damn! The service manual says its easy as using a radio key pushed into the side and slide out. I love this next statement... The guy honestly said "Hummer installed the radio first and built the truck around it". He was serious! He didn't charge me anymore but if he screwed up my gauges, I'll be back with a baseball bat!!
On a good note....
The guy's girlfriend is a real knockout! I guess she really liked my ride. I thought I'd take a peek in the garage bay to see how well the guy was doing and I overheard the chick say she wanted to sit in it. The boy friend was taking pictures of her sitting in and posing all around it! COOL! No bikini but she had some nice, tiny, tight, threads! I'd go into greater detail, but you all would probably pass out! After about 10 minutes of some nice posing, the boy friend saw me and she took off. After some tense silence, he said he does this all the time taking pictures of different rides for thier calendar. I told him that wasn't a problem if he would let me have some copies. He said he would send me a calendar when they come out. That's BS in my opinion but it was worth the show! :woot:

:whaa: Might I suggest that you go back to the shop and ask him for one or maybe, five of the pics so that you can enter them in the H4O 2013 Calendar Contest...just sayin....but they are pics of YOUR rig! Great story!

BTW, how's the new radio? Not sure if your thread was about the new radio or the girl posing in/on your rig... :giggle:...got a little sidetracked...

Yeah... No kidding... I think the guy was full of sh** about the calendar. I will be going back there from time to time and my other buds to check up on him. I don't think my ride would even come close to you all's "shinny" nice rigs being on the H4O calendar. But... There is that good looking chick factor that might help me some!
I started to talk about the radio. That was the idea at first but it was too cool not to let you all know about it. I should have made this two different postings, because I know you all would be focusing on the one thing! :) Ok... Yeah, me too.

I don't know why it takes so damn long on everything I have done on my rig. I guess it's not the average vehicle and it's always the first time these guys ever worked on one. The radio should have taken a short time to get that work done. With this radio having the option for a built in XM Radio, I will need to take it out again to plug that in. I hope the guy didn't change something that will make it tougher for me now.

FUNCH?
Would that be FOTO LUNCH? Or FRIENDLY LUNCH? Or FANTASTIC LUNCH? Probably a little of everything, but I'm betting it was more of a FANTASTIC lunch.
:)
Perhaps he took a bit of a break to have some "funch" with his girlfriend. That could be why it was so long of an install.
