Last time I rode with Chris, I got out and walked. Although that was Moab Rim. And he had some pucker a few times. Oh the memories. He will chime in.

I was ready to walk and leave my truck on the rim. Tbone almost spotted me into the crack leaving me and squeaky to drop 800 ft into the ****in Colorado river lol

Kyle, Zach is right. We can do some crazy ****. You haven't seen anything yet. Not sure you wanna lol but we all start somewhere and work our way up.

Matt do you have my #? I may do something later on in the day I had a friend that texted me wanting to do a night run tomorrow. Text me and maybe I can help with your issue

We had a terrible "storm" you know a few inches of rain in so cal. (hope everyone is laughing at us around the country) Back in march of '11 when I hit a sinkhole and almost rolled off the trail I hated mud and quite frankly was scared of it. After this rainfall all my confidence is back and thens some. A last minute mud run after work was in order and this was the end result. This was friday night.

I had my fun, we hit hill climbs and where I used to freak out for sliding down a hill sideways with some more experience the best way is to stay calm and make small corrections till I level out.

Now yesterday the rain continued and we became known as the "scv recovery team" more as a joke but we had a ton of fun. While I was at my sisters basketball game my brother pulled out a charger that was drifting in the rain that then hit dirt after loosing control. He called up his friend in a mustang to call pull him out. Both of them being stuck and a friend of a friend calling us my brother pulled them out.

Then we get another call that this kid in a stock ranger on street tires who had 4wd but then had issues so was stuck in 2wd was up to the frame in clay. The nastiest stickiest mud suction cupping mud. I originally had no plans to go but something told me I should. So I met up with my brother and good thing I was there. 3 hours later and using a lot of my recovery stuff we got him out.

So the plan was winch him forward and turn him around. All of a sudden Kyle shows up in the suburban and gets stuck.

Then my brothers friend got the idea to pull him from behind, hes in a TJ on 31s. He got stuck and seeing its a toy for him and has a DD he said push me forward. So I ran up to the back of him and nudged him out.

He gets behind him and cant get setup so now he hook up my brother and were winching him forward. All is fine until the POS JK alternator cant charge up the battery enough I said enough is enough. Hooked up a strap and said lets go. In reverse, up a clay rutted out steep hill I made a redline assault up the hill pulling this ranger. I made it right up near the top. It was sick, everyone was shocked I made it that far especially in reverse.

Now I told him that the only way he can turn around is by using downhill momentum and the second he sits the bottom crank the wheel and turn. He tried that and got stuck but luckily my brother was lined up to strap him out.

After 3 hrs he was out.

He is the scv recovery team.

We had many more calls but seeing it was almost 1 am we decided it was time for some food. Stopped at in n out and called it a night.

Out here its comical, the second it rains all the trucks wanna hit the mud. One guy got stuck and an off road tow truck charged him 1100. Others were stuck and who knows if they are out by now. If not maybe after work we will continue our mission.

I had a terrible shaking in the wheel at 50 mph on the way home. Thought it was balljoints or hubs especially seeing they are all original from 06 120k miles on em but found 10 lbs of clay caked between the rotor and rim. Gotta see if its good to drive now.

Sounds like a fun night. Last time I went "muddin" I had to drop all of the skid plates because everything was buried. So much mud the original forward rake was there. ..There is still mud up there over a year later

Thanks Dave! I appreciate it. We got him out safely. I contemplated messaging one of you H1 guys yesterday because this truck weighed much more then me.

With the rate of our little recovery missions lately we will probably be needing a beast of an H1 sooner then later.

With school being out and now I am only down to working I had some free time and went to rowher flats and attempted the rockpile on the bottom.

I attempted it from the side, there is no way in hell I could go all the way through from long side. From the short side I got all 4 tires on the rocks and was crawling and pop, rear locker stopped engaging. Without the rear locker there is no way in hell I could get through. If I had a front locker and rear I without a doubt could go from short side to short side, with just a rear locker I could probably do it and without lockers there is no way...the locker engages with no load on it but I am assuming its like bebes...the pins and holes are all ovaled out. So I will rebuild it when I do 5.13s for the SAS and when I have more money I will replace it with an ox locker or eaton 4 pinion design. The 2 pinion design is not nearly as good.

here are some pics

getting all 4 tires on the rocks

I made it a little bit further. From side to side its only about 4 H3 lengths. I made it about 1 1/2 then the locker gave out and I was done.

Also, am I the first to crack and H3 rim?

Well, with front/rear lockers and being lifted this obstacle can be done shortways, unfortunately my locker gave out. I dont have many more pics but I might have a friend who has some of me further in. I only got some shots of me just entering.

To the rim cracking. No I cracked both of the passenger side rims when I slid sideways into a curb during the winter. This was back in 2009. I had a huge chunk missing. I'm surprised I made it back home to be honest.

I need to see if kyle has some pics but there was a post on instagram saying meet in the vons parking lot at 730. It was mainly 2wd prerunners, stock vehicles a few lifted 4x4 trucks but we showed up with squeaky, my brothers JK, my brothers friends stock-ish TJ, my buddies TJ on 35s, my other buddy in his dodge ram diesel and 35s, and kyle in the avalanche. I think they were happy we showed up. They would still be out there if we didnt help.

They were going up the gorilla snot type mud hills and this girl got stuck in her truck. She was hard on the gas and turning into a dirt wall to get traction. Tie rod snapped on her f150. So I go up there drag her ass down. Then I hook her up to kyle and he drags her a few miles back to the main road. She had her tires cock eyed the whole way luckily it was muddy enough to let her truck slide why kyle pulled her truck or she would of been breaking a ball joint. First off I had a few people telling me they didnt think I would be the one out there pulling people out, which I understood. I mean these trucks look all big and badass with their big light bars and wide trackwidth but at the end they knew mine was not all show, it was all about doing work. That went for everyone who went in our crew atleast, we were prepared. Between me and my buddies we were the ones with the hi lifts, tow straps, d rings, winches and recovery gear. It was fun, kinda like a throwback. I was once them just getting into it and was not built that much.

No one thought kyle could get her outta there so props to him.

Then me, my brother and my buddies continue to the top where another truck was stuck, he had made it to the top but ended up sliding off the hill on his way back down. There were not many trees, the ground was too soft so we couldnt winch or pull him back on the trail. Plan B. He was half way on the trail half way off. There was about a 15 foot steep hill/drop off then it was plateau. We had my brother drive down to the plateau because if he got stuck down there I would have a better chance of me pulling him out then him pulling me out. So he got far enough away incase he rolled and to winch him down the hill. He was parallel to the trail so we had to winch him to slide his front end facing down the hill to the plateau while 10 of us were pulling a tow strap so keep him from sliding down parallel and rolling. As we did that it would straighten him out and he could then slide down the hill face first and pin it if he starts to topple over. So the plan worked as my brother winched him he starts to face down hill and punches it. We got him out safely! Then on our way back out to go home we find a 4runner stuck in a mud pit. Then we had the dodge pull him out, then the dodge tried the mud pit, he got stuck. We pulled him out and then finally went home.
