Selling the Hummer

I bought my 06 because it was cheaper than 07 or newer, my only constraint was making sure it was a late model year to avoid the head issue. With my base requirement being the adventure option, 07 and newer added $2000+ to the price. For the added power, PCM, intake, & exhaust more than make up the difference of a stock 3.7. Power monsters they are not.....compared to what? I had a 95 Silverado Z71 with ONLY 250 HP and it went every where I wanted, before that, a 81 Silverado with 190 HP, on a good day. My point is, these power wars are over rated, the right set up is the one that gets you where you want to with out breaking crap every 5 miles on the trail. Unless you are doing black diamond trails, your H3 is the best rig out there. IMHO

I say keep it as well. I will say that I know less about these trucks than the majority of the members on here, but I can tell you that driving it is a joy. I can admit that my truck has issues, being one of the first solid axle swaps, but I love the thing! I actually enjoy the trouble shooting that comes along with my rig. Working on my truck is an enjoyable hobby. I'm always emailing 4-speed (he probably hates me lol). I can say that I will keep this truck forever. I have an 07 with 65k on it and will do everything to keep her going.

Do what I did just get a little sports car to save gas! haha

I was going to buy an FJ before I bought the Hummer. The kid was in the Army and had done everything that you would want done to one for offroading. But, he would not come down from 27,000. I had 24,000 cash but he would not budge. I dont like how noisy they are inside, and I have enjoyed my H3 alot since I have owned it so no regrets here.

Well, with all the talk here recently about getting a new car/truck in place of the Hummer, got me thinking..

My old 06 has served me well and is still running strong with no issues, other than old age just like me...It has 75K miles on it right now..as some of you remember, I started the first HUMMER forum back in the day with Patrick on HF's and Dilo along with Mikey (Hummer Guy) were my sidekicks along with the many others now faded away and moved on from there over time..But I never let go of my Hummer...

But alas, I see an opportunity to sell it now when it is in good shape and would make an easy sell for top dollar.

My only Choice for me and it fits me well too like the H3, is the Toyota FJ Cruiser...

I don't like Jeeps, LR's(had one) or any other facsimile of a true offorader style vehicle..for the money the FJ works for me.

I have put together the option packages for the 2014 and also that is it's last year too for Toyota's FJ Cruiser...So I'm having a couple of dealers work on finding me one with all that I want in one..

Your thoughts and opinions are welcome....be kind to an old man now..
Dennis, food for thought. Since you were here from the beginning, why not start it all over..........with the new Chevy Colorado diesel that is coming out next year. That is going to be my daily driver when they come out. Already have my tax return and work bonus set aside for it.

I bought my H2 in 03 when they were first introduced. It was what I wanted, (for a lot of reasons) and after 175,000 miles, it still remains what I want. If the H2 was still in production, and faithful to its original vision, I would have bought another. For me, there just isn't anything on the market today that offers what the H2 does. I decided long ago that I would just trade the monthly car payments for maintenance payments and so far it has worked. The H2 isn't as pretty as it once was, but mechanically, it is in very good health. Unless your needs have changed, have you considered keeping the H3 and maintaining it well?

I can't thank you all enough for all the personal advise and support..I echo all the positive sentiments for keeping the H3...

I think now I have made my mind up and will do as some of you suggest, and that is keep the old Girl and maintain it and enjoy the one of a kind SUV as it is..Like I said, it is in good running shape and still looks like new. I know that some of you like the offroad virtues of these Hummers, But I like it for all the same reasons plus it still has great onroad manners too.

This weekend I will do a Throttlebody clean up..I will offer my thanks to the person that posted the DIY how to, in that thread.

I like the idea of the Diesel coming out next year in the Colorado P/U...I need a pick-up too.

Again; Thanks everyone for the help and advice.

Yeah!!! I cleaned my throttle body on my 07 right after I got it, and it made it run much much smoother! Also changed the plugs, and some other routine maintenance items. I enjoy working on H3's and I love coming up with great mods like my third brake light fix.
