Traction Control issues/failure 2006 H3

Driving my H3 up a freeway ramp, all of a sudden, it starts acting weird and the drive train feels like I'm running over HUGE rumble strips with wicked vibration......and the "Traction Control" fault lights up the dash and "Service 4wd" comes on too. It finally just stopped me dead on the ramp and refused to go back into gear. I thought the 5 speed manual transmission just went to hell or the transfer case self destucted or maybe the clutch failed or ........well, something major league failed. So, I try all options from 2 wd, 4wd high, 4wd low and none will activate and the indicator lights for each of those modes won't stay on past the initial finger push on the button itself. I turned off the engine and sat there for awhile. Then started it again and tried 4wd high and it engaged and I was able to get back home. No funny sounds, no grinding, no whines, just seemed to work OK. So.........is this a faulty TCCM 4wd module? I'd appreciate any feedback I can get. Remember, this isn't an automatic, it's a 5 speed manual.

Could also be a bad front diff. I would drain the transfer case, as mentioned above, and also the front/rear diffs.

I don't think it's your manual transmission. Drain the T cas, and diffs, check for metal color, your diff an T cas fluid should be red or brown, but not SILVER!!! If, so, you must open the T case and check chain, Shift fork, oli filter inside the T case ( little black one, like a small cigar )
Your T cas shift fork is still the OEM? If yes they are just bullsh... and easy to replace by AC DELCO aluminum ones. Check also the plug and wire from your T cas shift motor.
Did you get a water inside passenger side? your 4WD module is located passenger side, dash bord top when you open the passenger door, easy to access.

Another / additional option might be to scan for codes and then do a bit of research on what they mean and what criteria are used to set them
