Possibly in place of...want to keep eye open for a really high mile H3 and have company do a complete build soon. Using the current H3 as DD and prototyping/ testing is a tough balance. We have some really cool projects in the works but will require some serious downtime.

My MLC car is my '98 Firebird Formula M6. I liked this car so much that when I retired I bought a new LS6 AND T56 to install as a retirement project. I completed the swap 2 1/2 years ago and I have over 22K miles on the new engine so far. I still enjoy driving this car and my best mpg is ~26 mpg. I can't complain....

I don't ever want to buy another car.. We have the H2 and a 2012 Toyota Sienna Minivan.. and my wife has a company car, 2014 Toyota Rav 4.. Down the road the H2 will be a Duramax LBZ or LMM engine put in it, and any interior refresh it needs to look new. Other than that, the car market is horrid. I can't believe back in 07 I paid 41K for a fully loaded 2500HD Duramax.. now a days the same thing with more plastic and less metal is over 60K..

My DD is a ford focus that is about to be retired. Been looking for awhile at new cars and I want NEW since technology has really taken off in cars the last couple years. I'm adamant there must be no gauges in what I get, all TFT or touch screens like the Tesla or Range Rovers. I'm pretty set on the new Lexus is250 F sport, no gauges, led headlights, infotainment, etc. hopefully in the next few months

YES! X1000! Its just insane what people are paying for tin-foil & plastic these days. My Hummer experience (my last new purchase) has been a real eye-opener, and I completely agree with your assessment. I will never buy a new car again...and of course GM is out of the question (forever). At the very least I would buy some sort of late-model wreck. I don't have a problem owning a salvage-titled car if I can get it for cheap, and repair it myself. I would totally buy a low-mileage wrecked 2012 Volkswagan Jetta for $4K...throw a new dog-house on it...drive it for the next ten years. Sure, its a dork-mobile...but its cheap dependable transportation. New cars should cost $18K. Period. But when I see what $18K gets me...I just want to laugh.

I'm struggling right now with doing a complete re-fit on my 99 K2500 Suburban. With over 200K miles, its tired and needs some attention. I went to the dealer and looked at new 2014 Suburbans...what a watered-down, sissy-rig, joke-of-a-vehicle...and they cost $60,000!!! The worst part is...they still get horrendous mileage. On the contrary...my ole 99 Burban is a "real" truck...from back in the day when people used em for more than hauling kids around. Its a beast and has all the heavy-duty crap that isn't even available anymore...stuff like "plow-package" and "dual batteries". None of this silly self-closing rear hatch, blue-tooth, park-assist, nonsense. I don't want that crap on my truck! Imagine what my 99 would be if I took half that amount ($30,000) and did a frame-off, diesel-swap, solid-axle, stick-shift, upgrade. I'm seriously considering this, simply because there is no suitable replacement currently being made.

My nxt vehicle wld still be an offroad rig, possibly a ford raptor or if GM brings a substitute ill go with it. Fuel is cheap, and everyone here rides a big truck. Plus a raptor wld b perfect for all the high speed desert stuff that we call wheeling over here. Not sure on the dunes how a truck like that wld handle, so maybe the short version of it...

This Christmas I got the ditch to fulfill another childhood dream so I bought an 05 Chevy SSR with the Tremec gearbox. It's a lot of fun so far, but less practical than the T. It'll go in a year or two for something else that catches my eye.

What turns me off of any new car purchase is all the unnecessary electronics. H3 has way too much already. If and when I get another vehicle, it will be a pre 06 vehicle. I'll probably go the route of my 69 El Camino. Get an old vehicle. Strip it. Put engine and tranny of my choice. I'll have a vehicle just how I want it without all the extra BS.

MaxPF, as someone who hates buying new... motorcycles are awesome brand new. Too much hack job crap on used bikes, and down here the resale value means you don't gain that much buying used unless you buy old.

I've also thought about a 360 myself. A good one can still be found at a relatively good price. Since I just bought a 2014 grand Cherokee diesel a few weeks ago I am pretty happy at the moment. I am waiting for the new York auto show in April. I am looking for the unveiling of the 2015 challenger with the 660hp supercharged engine. If its not a strictly track only car, then I am interested. If its stripped down like the z28 then forget it.

I even thought of trading in my srt charger for the new Maserati Ghibli. Side by side the charger is the faster car and to be honest it's actually a really nice car, one of the few I can say I truly love to drive. It puts a smile on my face every time I grab the steering wheel. That SRT may actually be a keeper unless there is a sleeker and more slippery version coming in the future.

After I bought the 4 door wrangler last October I am struggling to come up with a reason to buy another hummer. I see good prices on H3s. To be honest the 2014 wrangler has everything an H3 had and then some. It rides fantastic, has a great sound system, nav, leather, heck I could even take it for a long cruise. On the highway it averages around 22-23 mpg.

I even stopped in at a dealer near me recently that had a 3T on the lot, the one Hummer I truly do miss. It was a 2009 and the price was right, I just didn't like the color and it appeared to be a base model and not very well equipped. If I ever found myself in the pick up truck market I would do a 3T before anything else just because I know what they are like and how capable they are.

Stay away from the Jeep diesels. They're Italian VM engines which are notoriously unreliable and expensive to repair. Just a piece of advice.

I've only had it for a couple of weeks and so far so good. It does have a warranty and more than likely the way I buy and sell cars the next person will still end up with a vehicle under warranty it does run really nice though,I would never know its a diesel except for when it's sitting there idling. On the road it's nice and quiet.
