Hi, my name is Tim. I am considering buying an HUMMER and I'm not sure which model to buy. Any advice?

You should give the forum some information on the main purposes and things you're going to be looking for in your HUMMER. Like if its your daily driver, family car, trail rig, just whatever you want out of it!

Welcome Tom. Sorry, I meant "Tim". I have to start by letting you know that they no longer make HUMMERS. So, you will have to buy used. That being said, I suggest that you get a 2006 H1 Alpha. Should be able to find one for about $150k. If that is out of your budget, then you should do what I did and you should get the rarest of all the HUMMER breeds and get a H3T. That was the pick-up truck version of the H3. :D

Hey old friend, welcome back Timgco. What's new with you and glad to see you post up here again.

Once you get your HUMMER post up a new thread with no pics and then you'll want to start another one asking about cranking the T-bars.
Don't know what T-bars are? Post up another thread asking what they are, then go ahead and start your second thread asking about cranking them.

Oh yeah, everybody will want to tell you to "ditch the nerfs". I've been a member on here since they started making H3's and I still don't know what "nerfs" are, but you're going to want to "ditch them".

Also, I found you can build an entirely new HUMMER out of all the chrome parts the guys around this forum take off of their trucks (most of the guys will give this stuff to you for free if they haven't screwed it up and tried painting it black--I''ve found you can clean the black off and truck on). I really think you can help me start a new movement if you'll join me in this cause.

Finally, whatever model you get, you're going to want to put a "GOBI" on it. Not sure what that is either, other than a desert in the middle of Africa. I don't think there's room for Africa anywhere on your new HUMMER, but it might be good to string beads across the inside of your windshield so it feels like Africa. Whatever this "GOBI" is, old schoolers think they're a PIA (sp?), so that must mean they are tough to deal with. New schoolers like to get the LED out, so you might want to look into that as well.

If there's any questions you have, we used to have a guy on here who's probably owned every 2nd HUMMER (all three variations) ever made, he'd be a good one to talk to about your new HUMMER. His name is......hey, wait, his name is Tim G.................and he's from, oh nevermind, I think he was from Nebraska

Yeah, it's been a while! Way too long. With work, it's tough to get on the forum. I haven't been up wheeling once this year yet.
I have a '14 Rubicon I have been building the last three months. I had a setback as it went through 5 hail storms. It's all fixed back up. I just have a couple more skids to mount up diff covers, and a handful of rock and back up lights. That's about it.

Kira just traded in her '10 Grand Cherokee and bought a '14. That one is staying nearly stock. window tint, tires, an her bike racks.

welcome back Tim!!!!!!

Hows life been? So after the 10 hummers, 4 rubicons and a raptor are you ready for a new rig? I think its time...I mean you have had this one for under a year and it has hail damage!

I don't get the "T" - honestly, if I wanted to get hung up on every rock on the trail, I'd drive my pickup truck :shame:

(kidding, T's are cool too)

You forgot to remove the chrome, then post another thread asking to trade your "chrome" for someone elses "blacked"

There's a back story to my forum member title "Hammer Down". Let's just say that my T never gets hung up on rocks (cattle guards are different story ). Just get out of my way, because my T is coming right at you, no matter what! :D

Hey Tim, let's see the new Rubicon!

I hope to get some pics up this weekend. After 5 hail storms, 1 new hood and wiper cowl the build is back on track. My Rigid Lights took on ping pong sized hail and look almost new. I stayed with a 3.5" and 35" Toyo MT's this time around.

I utilized a few companies on this build. Teraflex, Rigid, AEV, ARB, Warn, Weather Tech, Factor 55, EVO MFG, Fox, Cobra, SPOD, M.O.R.E, JW Speaker, Mopar, Toyo, ATX Wheels, Tuffy, KC Hilights, Rugged Ride, Power Tank, Drake, Rotopax, Wilderness Rack, Hi-Lift, Firestik, ORO.

I'll do a separate build thread. I just have to finish up a couple things.

...now, how to graft an H3 front end on this JK.
